Local power company must be worried, they're doing chopper inspections
of the transmission lines that run over the east end of our property every day. They are 440 thousand volt cables and with these insanely high temperatures the last month and record electrical loads we have been able to see them vibrating madly and we can hear sizzling noises coming from them. It's kinda scary. I guess they're worried that they might actually break an insulator and fall down on the ground so they're looking at them flying their copters right over the house at about 75 feet high.
I went to Lowes and bought 150 feet of cheap fencing to block off that part of the property so our
doggies can't get over there underneath them. We're out in the boonies and our power comes from a
dam just a few miles away so our electric is pretty dependable generally but they are having outages down the line a ways.

1. Aren't you worried about possible fires? And is it hotter there
than usual? It's hot here in TX, but it's pretty much always like this this time of year.

2. Yes, fires are a worry, the governor re-started a statewide burn ban
just yesterday. We've had 23 days over 100 since the first of July and no rain at all right here, there have been scattered rain showers but none of them have made it to our neighborhod.

A whiskey barrel wrapped with insulated wire a few thousand times and placed as close to the powerlines as possible...

...would not be suggested here, or by me.
