The vest, with a hand grenade and an explosive tucked in its pockets, were found on July 24 in a village near Kabul, a South Korean foreign ministry official said on Thursday.
"The vest which a Korean Red Cross personnel wears was discovered in the Surobi district. Our government takes the situation very seriously," he told AFP.
South Korean Christians have vowed to stage a peace rally in Afghanistan from August 5 to 7 despite an Afghan government ban.
Organizers of the event claimed about 1,500 participants were already in Afghanistan, while the South Korean government put the number at 1,000.
"We keep asking them to cancel the event and return home," the official said, adding some participants were turned away at the Kabul airport or failed to get visas to enter the country.
