Cafferty wants to know why Dems have turned on Lieberman!
Edited on Thu Aug-03-06 04:19 PM by me b zola
Cafferty likes Lieberman, and was singing his praises because he had the "integrity" to call out Clinton for lying about sex. I think that Cafferty may want to hear from us about why we want him out.

FYI, remember that Cafferty is very much against the tyrrany of this administration, and the fact that the Congress has rubber stamped all of bush*s illegal policies.

5 p.m.: What does it mean when the voters turn against a man of the caliber of Democratic Sen. Joe Lieberman on Connecticut?

1. Wrong question.
It should be: why did Lieberman turn on the Dems and embrace the GOP?

2. Because he's been PART of that rubber-stamp, Jack
Only WORSE because, with Joementum's support, Shrub could CLAIM his policies were bi-partisan (my ass!).

4. BTW, the answer is: The man of caliber took his base for granted.
Edited on Thu Aug-03-06 04:24 PM by HereSince1628
Assuming the base is ALWAYS with you so you can go after "swing voters" and "the other guys" base by triangulating on his position and the opposition party's positions is a huge assumption.

Assumptions always have the potential of being wrong. And Lieberman's assumption that the base would stay with him seems to have been a strategic mistake of the "taking for granted" the first law of politicians variety:"

Don't lose the support of your base.

6. What caliber? He's a weasel.
A sneaky backstabbing weasel. Republicans turn on their weasels all the time. Why is it such a huge issue if Dems do?

Lieberman forfeited it when he joined the Bush cult.

9. Here's mine
You can't have it both ways, Jack. You can't oppose the unconstitutional policies and laws of the bush administration, be angry with a rubber stamp Congress, and still think that Lieberman is a good Joe.

Joe has condemed one president for lying about sex but not another president for lying about how we went to war, illegal spying on American citizens, and several other things that many Constitutional scholars believe constitute treason. What does that say about Lieberman?

I doubt that there is any chance that he will read mine because he read one of my letters yesterday

But there is a very good chance that he will read yours :)

13. Because he turned on Clinton, because his voting record
is only 60% liberal (Hillary Clinton is at 90%), and mostly because of that KISS and other signs of affection with Bush, showing us where his loyalty really lies.

Because he's in the pocket of the insurance industry, because he'd sell out his own country in a second to help Israel, and because he's been too much of an enabler for the GOP agenda.

Because he's set himself up as a mentor to men like Obama and has turned their rhetoric lousy even if he hasn't managed to destroy thir voting records.

In short, because he's a conservative Democrat and because he's done us damage and because he is loyal to the wrong people, it is time for him to go.

The fact that he's throwing a major hissy fit over being threatened shows us he feels far too entitled to the job.

Leave quietly and with dignity, Mr. Lieberman.

19. His automated phone calls are driving me crazy
If I get one more automated message from some Lieberman hack, I'm going to go nuts. It's up to four or five a day now.

Does Joe not realize how much people hate those fricking calls?

23. I tried!
I think I am too late but I wrote a fast one:

We are standing up for our progressive values. I want our representitives to speak for us and to us.
Senator Lieberman has spent way to much time speaking to Republicans and agreeing with their insane talking points with Sean Hannity.
