List others if they aren't on the list. This is to see where DU is leaning.

3. I am more concerned with who it isn't
And I hope it isn't Hillary Clinton.

It will be a bloody race if we put her up.

But I like Gore, Edwards, and Feingold. I could also free up my schedule if the party needs me to run (which seems unlikely as nobody has ever heard of me (including myself)).

14. That's the problem there in a nutshell
If she runs, the Right Wing will fight her like it's the end of the world, and the majority of us will say "OK so we are going to go get bloodied and bruised for a woman who's only a few small steps to the right of George H. W. Bush?"

when push comes to shove, I believe there are many on the left who would vote for Hillary because she is a woman, however much they dislike her politics.

21. I'm sure they would
But would they man phone lines for her? Send her their hard earned dough? Canvass their neighbors?

I'd vote for her too (unless a very specialized set of events happened). But would that be enough?

23. Would it be enough? I hope we don't find out.
But I never thought Hillary could win in New York to begin with, so who knows what would happen in a national race. Two years from now the nation is going to be V-E-R-Y sick of George W. Bush and the Republicans.

one term as governor of Va where he turned the state around. he's also able to work with republicans. we need to get this country united again. there's too much bipartisanship.

33. Yes, Kerry is DLC, and his weak wobbly positions crippled him.
He should have won by a huge margin against an extremely unpopular "president." Instead, thanks to his wishy-washy positions on the war and other issues, he won by only 3%, not enough to overcome Blackwell and Diebold.

We can have it all: Gore, Boxer, Feingold, Conyers. All are brave and true to Democratic values. Yeas each may have slipped once or twice, but all have stood tall many times in the midst of numerous shameful copouts by their colleagues.

34. many people have told me that they voted for bush because
they couldn't stand kerry. my own husband did not vote at all because he didn't like either one.

we can forget about gore. he's made it quite clear that he's not running.

i love boxer and feingold, but their both jewish and from what i'm seeing lately anti-semitism is rampant. and feingold has been married 3 times. they'll probably use that against him.

now conyers is a great man -- one of the best in congress, but he does not speak well which would rule him out.

also they'll scream that boxer and feingold are "too liberal".

we've really got a fight on our hands.

45. It's a pity that
our elections are based on valuing the wrong qualities.

Leadership, ethics, doing what's right for the people, ability to assemble an outstanding team--these are the things we should be looking for in a President, not whether or not someone speaks well (or what funding they can attract).

22. Gore? meh.
Gore's OK - his heart's in the right place, but he has absolutely no charisma - he couldn't muster a well-deserved landslide over Bush, enabling vote-theft to steal the election.

Feingold seems to be a decent guy - I agree with his positions the most, though I haven't seen him speak yet.

Cause he is so cocky that he'll demand that the media give his plattform some airtime and make sure it's fair and balanced. He'll also make sure that the votes will be counted this time and really fight back.

I hope he keeps saying "George Bush didn't care about black people" loud and clear.

In this toxic lobbyist/corporate/military complex/DIEBOLD counts our votes run system where profit trumps principle and the will of the people? Will it really make that much of a difference if that continues? I would say Al Gore, but he is too good for that.

Those would all be great. Progressive might have some very good candidates to choose from this time. I felt like that was a real problem in '04. There weren't any true progressives who opposed the war to choose from except those who had small campaigns and were considered unelectable.
