Where are those 5 "terrorists" who were going to blow up the Sears Tower?
Remember them? Five guys arrested in Miami who had no cash, no training, no transportation, and no boots. Seems they've been disappeared. The media certainly hasn't brought them up again.

H.L. Mencken, a great journalist of the early 20th century, said: "No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people." And it seems that no one understands that better than Cheney and Rove. I don't remember what they were trying to distract us from at the time, but their five Miami "terrorists" sure changed the subject.

The reason everyone's forgotten about them is because, with the thugs running our country, there's at least one outrage a day. So who's going to remember five guy who, for all we know, may be "sleeping with the fishes?"

Anyhow, does anyone out there know what became of them?

2. Their trial is set for March 5
For what it's worth. Should be interesting to see how that turns out. And what kind of coverage it gets (if any).

MIAMI — Two informants were paid nearly $56,000 by the FBI for their roles in the investigation that led to the arrests of seven men accused of plotting attacks against Chicago's Sears Tower and government buildings, prosecutors disclosed today.

The disclosure came as U.S. District Judge Joan Lenard set a March 5 trial date for the seven defendants.

3. Good point -- these scares are used for political purposes
And yelled from every hilltop, but when they are debunked, reassessed, or simply unravel under the weight of their own absurdidty, the coverage is subdued, at best.

The subway scare in NYC is another recent example.

4. I reckon they're in the cells next to the 4 guys who, with no money,
training or explosives, were going to blow up the Lincoln Tunnel the week of the Democratic Convention.
