Did anyone see Law and Order last nite? A bizarre twist on Palmegate
Edited on Thu Aug-03-06 11:24 AM by Armstead
Last night's Law and Order had one of those shows with obvious parallels to the headlines. In this case, it was about leaking of information by the press, and the implications.

Although it was indirect, it was an obvious parallel to the Palme situation, with an undercover officer exposed and ultimately killed as the result of a leak to the press that seemed to be politically motivated.

It wasn't too difficult to see the surrogates for people like Karl Rove, Valerie Wilson, Novak, etc. Procecutor McCoy (Sam Waterson) could even be seen as the stand in for Patrick Fitzgerald. The Rove surrogate, in particular was an interesting parallel, as a vicious and powerful political operative who is charged by as an accomplis in the death of the police officer.

But the show made one very troubling switcheroo. The Rove figure -- and the politician he worked for -- were not right wing ideologues. Instead they were transformed into mean and nasty LEFT WING PROGRESSIVES who claimed they were being persecuted by our hero McCoy, who they labeled as a conservative.

WTF? :grr:

Law and order has usually been pretty good about telling it lijke it is in political terms. Why the hell was this pandering change necessary?

3. They've done that before a few times, which is why I stopped watching.
Too bad, one of the few good dramas on the tube.
