Daryn "I love Rush" Kagan is leaving CNN to start "online community"
Edited on Thu Aug-03-06 10:20 AM by Oreo
Guess what the online community is going to be called.... darynkagan.com
Here's the website header
"One woman. One radical idea: The world is a good place. Stop in for daily inspiration to improve your world."

I'll bet that after a month she goes to Fox

Daryn Kagan Leaving CNN: Her Note
Daryn Kagan's note to CNNers this morning:

Almost 12-years ago to the day, Jim Walton and the late Bill MacPhail made a dream come true. They plucked me from local TV in Phoenix, AZ and made me a CNN Sports anchor. I spent three and a half years covering every major sports event from The Super Bowl, to NBA playoffs, to even international figure skating in Russia.

My move to news in 1998 has been even more incredible. I've covered everything from war, to Oscars' Red Carpet, to traveling Africa with Bono.

I am so grateful for the experience and people I've worked with for 12 years. 12-years!? Who has a job anywhere for 12-years anymore, let alone in TV news!

It is time for me to move onto the next phase of my career. I am very excited about starting my own online venture at darynkagan.com. It will be an inspirational, online community dedicated to the radical idea that the world is a good place. Sounds different, I know. It is. Watch the site for more details in the coming weeks.

darynkagan.com launches November 13th.

Meanwhile, I will be in my regular anchor slot 10a-noon EST until Friday, Sept. 1st. I'm looking forward to using August to touch base with as many of you incredible people as possible, and of course, proudly anchoring for the network that has given me so many amazing opportunities.

Please come by and see me!

Good riddance

15. Sounds like a 'to explore other opportunities' exit
Can't say I'm sorry to see her go, though. I wonder who her financial backers are for this new venture...and it wouldn't surprise me to see a big ass banner ad from Move America Forward.

27. I'm sure she had no options. Either they were about to fire or demote
her.

3. Yes, good riddance for sure! Her absence will not even be noticed.
In fact when she is on the air, I switch off CNN. The same goes for that other one with the black outlined lips and the striped hair. Click!

9. uh-huh
She's probably going to gush about all the 'good things' that are happening in Iraq that the liberal media isn't reporting.

I'm sure we'll all hop over there on occasion to check in :)

7. I just read this. You beat me to posting it here! I admit, I am
a bit surprised, but I won't miss her!

The other article at that same site says she is likely to be replaced by Heidi Collins.

14. Was she fired or encouraged to resign?
She really interjected way too much of her opinion into her news readings, even more than Blitzer. Maybe even CNN cringed everytime she crowed about something. Oh, well, it gives he freepers another place to go.

21. Would she get paid for this web-site? I don't know anything about this so
sort of thing. She is going from a good paying job to a questionable web site - sounds like she wants to spend more time with her family.

Who leaves a high-paying gig to launch a go-nowhere, no-content website? Someone who just got canned!
