NV: GOP mailing "tricks" against Reid
State GOP resorts to tricks, Democrats say

A campaign mailer sent to Democrats over the weekend said it was from a political action committee called Searchlight. But it didn't have anything to do with Sen. Harry Reid, who heads the Washington, D.C.-based Searchlight Leadership Fund.

Quite the opposite: The mailer listing judicial candidates came from officials with the Clark County Republican Party.

Democrats on Monday called the flier an attempt to deceive Democratic voters. But the Republicans behind it said it was just a bit of harmless fun and did not violate any rules.

The heading on the flier said, "We know that the judicial candidates listed below share our desire to protect the rights of minorities and the individual from the majority. We support their election to office and ask that you cast your vote for them as well."

It then lists exclusively Republican candidates for the offices of Nevada Supreme Court, Clark County District Court and justice of the peace.

1. Cheaters, crooks and criminals...the Republican party...
What we need is a few good old-fashioned necktie parties for these Republicans. Just a bit of tongue-bulging-out-of-the-throat fun!

9. They are going to protect the rights of "minorities"
I mean, it's only 3000 uberrich families vs. millions of low-wage workers ...

3. Why don't the Democrats make a BIG stink about things like this?
I remember the "They'll ban the Bible" flyer sent out during the '04 elections --- why don't the Democrats make as big a stink as the Reps would do if the tables were reversed? Apologies would be demanded from everyone involved - and even from those not involved - and they'd get them! If I hear one more Dem apologize for telling the truth while this kind of crap gets very little news coverage, I think I'll scream!

4. Because the Republicans have a better outlet.

For some reason Republicans are viewed as religious. They send their message to 'Pastors' who relate it to their congregations. Who sit around Saturday nights and send LTTE's. The Republicans have Hannity, Limbaugh and others. They have Fox news.

Democrats don't have these same avenues. Anything pro-Democrat is either the "Liberal Press" or "Radical Left-Wing Fringe Groups". The Republicans are very good at what they do. And they still have to cheat to win. All we need is better organization (and I believe Howard Dean is making a good start), and better ways to get out the message.

That's why we need a Democrat as a president. The president has a HUGE microphone. Every time he open his mouth it's covered (well 90%). When was the last time a Democrat speaking at an event was covered live? Versus Karl Rove or Dick Cheney speaking.

5. You're right. One thing I think I know.....
I highly doubt they'll get an apology out of Dean for any remark he makes!
Thank goodness for Dean.

Note: I have taken local radical letters to the editor to church and asked if I was sitting on the same pew as anyone who believed such untrue statements such as "side with Bush or you're anti-God." Of course, I get "Oh, no, of course not!" answers but I want to hear them say it out loud.

8. Cheat and Deceit
A joke? No, a joke is "A monkey walks into a bar..." This is not a "joke". Organizations don't pony up $1,000s of dollars for a slick mailer just for "a joke"!

Not only should this group provide a public apology to Senator Reid AND the voters, but the judicial candidates should make public statements with severe condemnation of these tactics. And if those candidates don't denounce and condemn publicly...well, let's ask just how "honorable" those potential judges are!!!
