1. CT doesn't have Diebold machines.
We are still pulling levers.

2. That's my point, will he now demand you automate?
Good luck on Tuesday...Have you decided who to vote for?

3. Well, we aren't going to automate before
November, if that's what you mean. The Sec. of State wanted to automate but after several machines were tested they were rejected due to the fact that they didn't meet certain necessary requirements...one of which was being able to verify the vote. She wants more machines to be tested but that hasn't even started yet and I don't know when it will.

I am voting for Lamont.

4. We already were "automating." Our SOS cancelled the orders 'cuz of Diebold
I have to give her credit. We were all ramped up to go, all the poll workers could talk about at the last election I worked. But then the stories started coming in. More and more, and our SOS actually paid attention. Finally, it was determined that Diebold had lied to the state in their proposal for the machines, something about the security issues, and that is when she finally said "screw HAVA, we're cancelling our orders for DRE's." As it stands, we're still using the old crank machines. I love 'em. Lots of redundant counters and double-key locks. And that resounding THUNK when you pull the lever back and you know your vote has been actually recorded!
