Did ya hear Lou Dobbs take Congress apart last night?
He did a great piece on the do nothing congress and very methodically and surgically eviscerated Senator Bennett over this "faith-based free trade" beliefs about the state of the economy. He dealt a stunning blow to Bennett by finishing him off with a reference to Congress' servitude to their "corporate masters." Took Congress to task over its light work schedule and their role in crafting legislation which has very much hurt working class people, from that credit card bill to their refusal to pass a reasonable minimum wage bill while granting themselves 8 pay raises during the same time. It was well done.

1. They certainly deserve it.
They are no friends of the People, that is for sure. They have done very little that has actually benefited us the last few years.

2. Just caught the end of it
Lou was on his game with that editorial. I will have to read it in his online commentary section. Thankfully we have one voice out there speaking for the working stiffs.

3. Lou has changed over the years
I hardly miss any of his shows, since he usually reports the stuff the other networks won't. He seems to have a couple reporters who really research for news that his loyal viewers want to hear about. I know sometimes he tries to soften the blows to some House Republicans, but overall he tells it as it is.

4. Reporting the truth has rewards! I think Lou has figured that much out!

7. I really think he is enraged at the current situation
and I think his softening of the blows is more an attempt to be civil to his guests, when he has them on the show. I find that he always tries at least to let them make their point or blather a bit before he tries to discuss his thoughts or ask more questions. It's not the shout fest that so many shows have become.

5. This is a Bobble-Head Congress...

...which only becomes awake when its existance is threatened.

This said -- some (though few) in Congress actually believe in our founding principles.

Many "Evangelists" (unknowingly sponsored by the non-Christian Sun Myung Moon & his klan) have unwittingly brought harm to Christianity itself.

The Prince of Peace may not look kindly on this.

6. Welcome to DU. Let us hope that those evangelists
are held accountable and that their followers have their eyes opened to the greed and corruption at the heart of their movement. And that it takes those politicians who have pandered to and participated in this great scamming of America down with them.

9. There are times I sneer at Lou (immigration issues), but...
...there are times I jump out of my chair cheering him on (especially during his rant on Congress last night).

All in all, I think he's basically an honest and decent guy who tries to give everyone a fair shake - a rarity on CNN, that's for sure.

10. Yes, Lou Rocks!
My husband and I agreed to remove CNN from our remote so we wouldn't have to endure those spinners, but did watch Randi Rhodes on his show a few months back and been watching almost every evening since. He presents issues in a more dignified way than the other cable hosts. Now I wouldn't venture into that right-wing bat-shit crazy Fox network, but I bet they don't cover anything like Lou does. Hope he stays on the job. They managed to get rid of one of their finer (IMHO) hosts, Aaron Brown.

11. Lou is a paleoconservative; that's why
His views on free trade and balanced budgets and social spending in general are old views the Neocons simply don't care about. They are not the dominant view in the Republican Party anymore and arguably portions of the Democratic Party as well, given that many of these bills passed with bipartisan support, especially NAFTA and "bankruptcy reform."

He leans too far left from the "mainstream." Of course, the corporate news media is so skewed to the right that even a center-rightist on economic issues can sound like a center-leftist.
