Or RE-Playing it.

It's about half over here in the Eastern Time zone.

For those who missed the first half, Stan's Dad got stopped for Drunk Driving, he had to go to AA and he was told by the people at AA that Alcoholism is "a disease," which he is powerless over, so now he's acting like he can't control his drinking...because he has a disease.

4. Mel Gibson
Edited on Wed Aug-02-06 11:37 PM by thatgemguy
is featured on South Park next week as they are going to rerun "The Passion of the Jew".

The story was ahead of it's time as it portrays a batshit crazy Mel.

BTW, the Scientology episode, Tom Cruise "in the closet" ran last week.

6. Oh, damn, then I missed it.
Oh well, I saw it the first time anyway.

Re: the Mel Gibson show, almost everyone already knew he was like that, everyone except the extreme "religious" Right-wing who when all ape-sh*t for Passion of the Christ.

South Park is a much more intelligent show than a lot of people give it credit for, some people don't get the kids swearing thing and judge it on that basis alone.

9. south park is brilliant
fwiw, when asked what their political affiliation in an interview once the creators responded

"we hate conservatives, but we really f*cking hate liberals"

i think their viewpoint is relatively libertarian, but they are pretty quick to spread the offending around on both libs and conservatives

there is a whole movement btw, referred to as 'south park conservatives" which i think a lot of people have missed. it's quite fascinating

i do like the fact that they are equal opportunity ridiculers

i also found it ironic that isaac hayes quit south park in a huff after the scientology episode when they dared to make fun of scientology. considering the massive fun they have had at the expense of jews, muslims, and christians, isaac hayes needs to grow the heck up

10. hmm
maybe cartman's unrelenting hate for hippies is a manifestation of the creators' hate for liberals. They roasted liberals pretty well again in the episode where everyone bought hybrids and San Fran was destroyed by a "smug" storm

11. Cartman's a parody of freepers.
That's why he's always bashing hippies and jews and his mom's a crackwhore.

Not that I think the creators are unbiased.

13. WHAT? Oh great, just another harmful message from South Park.
The implication here is alcoholics can quit any time they want. Riiiiiiiight.

From the same people who think making a movie about global warming is ridiculous.

But NOOOOOOOOOO, they're BALANCED!

Fuck 'em.

14. But...
It's like... comedy. They make the funny-ha-has, I don't see any real need for them to have journalistic integrity, just like the Daily Show is a comedy / news show that doesn't have ANY responsibilities to fulfill, other than be consistently funny (which it is).

16. They're transparent, and I see through them.
Their humor (I reluctantly use the term without quotes because they ARE skilled in the art of being funny) pushes a very apparent, very consistent set of ideas. And I don't like them. That's all.

Kind of like when my "spider-sense" tingles at a poster here in DU. And I'm seldom wrong about that -- the tingles usually become tombstones.

23. No, that was one of their Christmas shows, that one was great!
The two that I can think of were "Bloody Mary" and the Scientology show that pissed off Tom Cruse and Isaac Hayes. I think their might have been one more, which is why they made such a big deal about censorship being a "slippery slope" during the Mohamed episode.
