Saratoga Race Course canceled all nine of its thoroughbred races because of the heat and humidity. It was not immediately known whether the 142-year-old track had previously lost a full day of racing because of weather....

Washington Redskins coach Joe Gibbs delayed the start of a two-hour workout from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.

"We can't afford to miss practice or cut practice short, and I think by going at night we'll have a better chance to get all of our work in and get out of the heat," Gibbs said. "You want to be careful with the players."...

Red Sox manager Terry Francona made batting practice optional Tuesday and Wednesday before games against Cleveland in steamy Fenway Park. Francona even had coaches and batboys shagging balls for the players who chose to take BP swings....

if they get too hot they can always get a job doing something useful for their fellow humans :-)

DOES provide something useful for fellow humans.

Or are you also against musicians, actors, and artists?

5. there is more joy and entertainment in school sports
that seem to be budgeted down all the time. that to me is real sports, not logo wearing commercial yapping narcsistics.

if I had my pick, mega corp sports would be further than last on that list of yours. celery would come before.

2. indoor practice fields people
its the 21st century, my highschool had one. Dear lord who gives a crap that people can't play their sports. Trust me, these people don't know hot, they forced us in highschool to play football out in the heat in august and we dealt....it was stupid as hell and then i didn't do it the next year, but we dealt.
