We have no local news. Cats aren't happy. Shit. Doug is at a gig and we have 8 animals.

I'm going to go check my neighbors.

Glad to hear you're okay up in Marin -- when we ahve these, I'm always afraid that what I felt is just a small bit of a much bigger quake somewhere else. :scared:

43. Well, it did wake us up
and I generally sleep right through them. They're such a common occurrence up here that it has to be a pretty good one before it makes my heart race. The last really good quake we had was in November 2002, 7.9 centered a couple hundred miles north of here. Ironically, I was in California at the time, but my kids said it was pretty exciting here. No damage in Anchorage though.

Here's the list -- I haven't felt any of them (I'm about 9 miles from the epicenter).

The good news, I think/hope, is that the aftershocks are smaller, so this wasn't a foreshock (that's ALWAYS my first thought)

65. Wow. I'm surprised everybody felt it as far away as they did.
We're in Sonoma county, and definitely felt it- it certainly got our attention- but I didn't think it would be shaking folks down in the South Bay, for instance.

Phew!

69. Depends if you're plugged into the "nervous" system of faults
My mom did feel it, in the SJ foothills. Her horses are spooked.

I felt it on the SF beach -- which isn't surprising when you think about it.

I miss smoking pot on these nights. lol

70. It was centered up north of us -- I probably felt it more because
on the beach.

Looks like everyone is okay, thanks!

73. I think so. I'm only about 3 miles from you, but I live on a Mt.

Really wasn't a big deal here. You could feel it, but it was just a little shiver and then a roll and it was over. Granite is a good foundation!

74. My poor cats are still not calm. The building did exactly what
it was built to do -- it shook and swayed really well. :(

Check the CA forum in the a.m. I was going to post a notice for DUers there tonight but I think I need to settle some furry guys (and me) tonight.

Take care, neighbor.

81. was in california for the 7.0
That was scary. 4.5... not so much. I was in cali for a 4.something as well before I left for nebraska for school. Honestly, after 7.0 everything else seems to be gravy. It's the only time in my life that I almost passed out. after that I've never even come close.

82. This is my first quake here at the beach, and have to say,
4.5 on this sand felt like Loma Prieta did when we were in Berkeley -- what was that, 6.something?
