Unfortunately, these terrific books that are coming out are only preaching to the choir. The ones who need to read them evidently aren't.

Did you catch what he said about the soldiers that will be charged in the Haditha killings? Something about none of them being convicted because they will argue they were only following orders??? Did I hear that correctly? Can someone correct me or explain this to me?

but from what I gathered, and he did make a reference to this... he was stating that "finally" he felt that there were "higher ups" who were beginning to come under fire. He said he in no way was condoning the actions, but that he felt it was the lower ranking soldiers who were getting the convictions.

He had harsh words for Rumsfeld, and he said that he had not received ONE negative email from soldiers who felt that looking at Generals was what they had been waiting for. He basically was saying that the grunts were set loose without much training or direction. Not exact words, but my impression.

I DON'T expect the grunts not to be held accountable, but it MUST go up the chain of command!!!

I really want to read this book and get the "big picture" here, sounds like he's on target!
