He told investigators that he hoped to claim the bounty on bin Laden. The equipment, he explained, was bait to lure uranium smugglers.
Mihsen's arrest -- and bizarre explanation -- made national news. The fact that he is from Syria and had a pilot's license raised more eyebrows. FBI agents searched his small white clapboard house and questioned his neighbors.
Mihsen, a naturalized U.S. citizen, spent seven months in a Michigan jail. In September, he pleaded guilty to failing to report that he brought ammunition aboard an airplane. He was sentenced to time served plus a year of supervised release. snip
He said he has twice voted for George W. Bush. Asked if he supported the Iraq invasion, Mihsen answered, "Of course." But he added that it is time for the U.S. to pull its troops out and let the Iraqis police themselves.
