WWRL-AM to become Air America flagship starting September 1
Yes, this is posted in LBN, but this does directly relate to AAR, which is frequently discussed here.

From www.allaccess.com (requires registration)

AIR AMERICA RADIO and ACCESS.1 COMMUNICATIONS CORP jointly announced today that AIR AMERICA RADIO will begin broadcasting on WWRL-A/NEW YORK CITY, effective SEPTEMBER 1, 2006. WWRL-A will become the flagship station for the AIR AMERICA RADIO network in what the parties called a long-term "partnership,"; AAR currently airs in a similar time-brokered agreement on crosstown INNER CITY BROADCASTING CORP. WLIB-A. ALL ACCESS hears that the deal is for five years."We are excited about our new affiliation and the platform this move will establish for AIR AMERICA in the years ahead," said AIR AMERICA acting CEO JIM WIGGETT. "We look forward to forming a long term and strong relationship with ACCESS.1 COMMUNICATIONS." "We are thrilled about our new partnership with AIR AMERICA," added ACCESS. 1 Pres. & COO CHESLEY MADDOX-DORSEY. "It is important that we partner in offering the nation’s largest radio market a strong, progressive voice."For now, WLIB-A's programming future remain uncertain, and exactly which hours will be covered by AAR programming is also unclear, although ALL ACCESS hears that morning drive may not be included in the arrangement.

WWRL has a 25,000 watt daytime signal, and a 5,000 watt nighttime signal, according to radio-locator.com. Could Malloy finally return to the NYC airwaves once and for all?

2. Atlanta next please???
We only get Al Franken daily. The nutcase who bought the station here doesn't like Mike or Randi because he thinks they are anti-semitic.

PLEASE -- I need my Randi Rhodes to deal with the drive home.:applause:

6. Thank you!
I will be looking forward to it.

Any chance this tower will send a stronger signal than what they currently have? I just hate it when Randi fades in and out.

7. According to radio-locator
WWRL has a 25,000 watt daytime signal, compared to WLIB's 10,000 watt daytime signal.

However, at night, WWRL only has a 5,000 watt signal, compared with 30,000 watts with WLIB. So it'll be weaker after sundown; it depends on where you live.

8. I think it all evens out
Stations lower on the dial require less power to get the signal out. That's why 5000 watt station at, say 550 AM, are often more powerful than protected 50,000 watters farther up the dial. Add in any potential interference issues from neighboring stations on the dial, tower location, ground conductivity, etc.

1190 has a slight advantage in this department, but according to the estimated coverage maps, the reach of the two stations looks similar.

9. I lose the Boston Station just about the time that Randi comes on
and can pick up some what of a signal on 1190 after that. But they are going to be weaker, then I might not be able to get either after sundown. Bummer.

5. Hehe.. I guess that means O'Reilly will be broadcasting
the demise of AAR yet again tonight. I actually saw a freep the other day who told be over a year ago that AAR was going off the air within a few weeks. He heard it on O'Reilly, and when I mentioned it today he said "oh yeah they are going down soon. I just laughed in his face...
