Michael Moore - Halliburton stock.
I had a RW gleefully tell me about Moore owning Halliburton stock. He heard it this morning. I googled and saw references at NewsMax, Worldnet Daily, etc., but nothing legitimate and old references.

Has something happened to refuel this? An offensive attack on something Moore is about to do?

5. The RWr admitted to Halliburton and Cheney being evil.
Inadvertent guilt by association. You should have said, 'dam then that means he is an evil oil overlord like Dick Cheney!'

6. Moore's own words:
In the Peter Schweizer book Do As I Say (Not As I Do): Profiles in Liberal Hypocrisy, Schweizer accuses Michael Moore of hypocrisy suggesting that he owns a variety of company stocks, including Haliburton stock, while at the same time criticising these companies. This accusation is based on a tax return from a foundation Schweizer alleges is controlled fully by Moore. Moore denied this on C-SPAN, with the statement "Michael Moore own Halliburton stock? See, that's like a great comedy line. I know it's not true - I mean, I've never owned a share of stock in my life. Anybody who knows me knows that, you know - who's gonna believe that? Just crazy people are going to believe it - crazy people who tune in to the Fox News Channel."

7. He owned it until early 2000
Which was before Bush stole the White House. Long before Iraq. Again, this is a case of freeper making a mountain of poop out of a grain of sand.

Gives protesters access to shareholder meetings, etc.
But, Michael Moore himself has repeatedly denied the allegation.

repulsive. After you've finished explaining the Moore issue, ask him if he thinks his support for a bunch of repulsive war profiteers makes him just as repulsive as them. Ask him why he's being a hypocrite.

Edited on Wed Aug-02-06 05:43 PM by frazzledmom
No one has ever been able to prove MM owned Halliburton stock and even if they did I don't see how the right could disparage him for it since according to them, owning stock is the American way...

On edit- seems to me that they are cutting their own throats by claiming that MM has done something wrong by owning stock in that war-profiteering piece of shit company..

22. it's a tough time for him now that his president has let things go to hell
in a handbasket. I did print for him more bad news: the Pentagon lied about 9/11. I even used a highlighter on select passages.

What might have triggered it was when I printed for him Bobby Kennedy's Rolling Stone article. Perhaps he's been looking for a comeback.

Dunno.

16. You know
I had a RW tell me this once and I told him "So what it's doing great it just shows Moore knows how to invest. Are you telling me YOU didn't invest in their stock?" This shut them up.

21. I like it when people talk about this.
It makes it clear they've never actually seen a Michael Moore film and are talking out of their asses.

Michael Moore owned stock in GM, that's how he got in to see Roger Whatshisname in Roger & Me.

Michael Moore's got a lifetime membership in the NRA, that's how he got in to see Heston.

Michael Moore's got Halliburton stock for the same reason.

But you can't expect Moore's critics to notice the obvious.
