A Suicide Bomber Blows Up A Bus. He Has Bi-Polar Disorder. Terrorist?
Edited on Wed Aug-02-06 04:50 PM by DistressedAmerican
Some keep arguing that because the guy behind the Seattle Jewish center shootings had a history of bi-polar disorder, his stated political motives do not count. That as a result of the mental illness he is not a terrorist.

Would the same be said is it was not a dmoestic event. How about something in Israel?

So, would a suicide bomber blowing up a bus in a Tel Aviv street still be a terrorist if he was mentally ill?

Or should we just chock that one up to the acts of a "loony" (as this guy was described by one poster) without terrorist goals?

1. Any-BODY who pisses off those who have both money and power
is a bonefide TERRORIST.

Terrorism has been around since the beginning of humankind.

Silly Americans believe that it was INVENTED on 9-11.

Ugly Arrogant American Ignoramuses. :(

6. Oh, I see, if you blow up poor people in a poor country, you're NOT
a terrosits, because you didn't "piss off anyone who has both money and power?

Now, THAT's the most novel (and ignorant) definition of terrorism I've ever heard.

2. Legally speaking, bi-polar is a gray area...
some people have managed a successful insanity plea with it -- but very, very few to my knowledge

8. Only grey to the justice system. One of the best mental health sites
on the net for years was created and run by a wonder woman who was bi-polar.

One day, she emailed me that her clinic refused to see her when she advised them that her meds weren't working. They said, "Don't even bother to come in unless you're running in traffic."

A couple of weeks later, she wasn't running in traffic, but she might as well have been.

3. They used to call these guys, "mad bombers"
But, that was before the rest of the world went totally nutz.

5. I have a father and sister (bi-polar) that don't take medicine.
They both meet the criteria of Authoritarian personalities and one must wonder why the Right gives full citizenship to mentally ill people (Reagan).

The Right have also taught their followers to scorn the study of Psychiatry and Psychology. My bf hated both these studies (RW whack job), until her son was diagnosed with a variant of Aspbergers, now, these studies and treatment are ok with her.

4. Was he a republican? A fund-o-mentalist wacko?
Was the bus full of grandmothers protesting civilian deaths in Iraq or upholding reproductive rights? Then fuck no he wasn't a terrorist. Was it a "liberal" or a "Hippie" and were the victims on their way to see the passion of the christ? Send his ass to Gitmo.

11. I have no problems with bi-polars that take their medicine.
Have you ever been slammed into a door because, when you did your father's dishes you didn't load it to his liking. Or, one rainy night I left my umbrella on the love seat, had a final the next day, was sleeping and at 2:30, bars closed at 2:00, got an umbrella hurled so hard at me that I had a huge bruise not to mention a sleepless night.

My sister, by the age of 10, through knives at me across the dinning room table.

She was speeding (70mph on the NJ turnpike shoulder of the road drinking) and when I grabbed the glove box scared chitless, she pulled over and started to beat my head into the ground. She drove off, left me in the middle of nowhere, called my parents and told them I head given her a black eye, which I did when after the seventh head smash when she didn't quit.

She just recently, I could smack my mom (she convinced my to let her drive my sister and myself), when driving 65mph, on the PA turnpike, in an area that I was unfamiliar with made me drive.

My sister started from the back seat to cover my eyes, (imagine doing 65mph, with someone covering your eyes), then proceeded to start poking at them as I am driving! I finally bit her really hard and then I was the animal. All, I could think was, we are going to die and I am going to get blamed for the crash. If I have no tolerance for bi-polars, please excuse me, I had to live with it all my life and there is no excuse for someone who doesn't take their medicine!

13. A super power uses massive bombing
admittedly to terrorize an entire nation, dubbing its campaign "shockandawe"

Is that a terrorist country?

14. Absolutely! And it is digusting that the same superpower has
the audacity to claim they are Christian while doing it! They stole the election pure and simple, the more I talk to people the more I am convinced they did!
