8. It is impossible for us to know objectively what the great issue is.
We are part of the issue and unable to look at the big picture without prejudice and preconception. Only future generations will know for sure, and be able to call us all so fucking stupid for being responsible for what we leave them. That isn't to suggest that we can't guess the right answer, or even deal with it effectively, although it is unlikely.

Power, especially in the US but certainly worldwide, has been increasingly centralized into the hands of fewer and fewer people ... the agenda for the "power elite" is twofold: the acquisition of more power and the acquisition of wealth ... the vehicle for the power elite is the multi-national corporation ...

All of the greatest "issues of our times" on the list are affected by the inability of citizens to control their own destinies as the power elite consolidate their stranglehold on the levers of power ...

Until there is a real populist uprising to overthrow the corporate agenda, especially in the US which is, after all, the "heart of the beast", nothing, absolutely nothing, will change for the better ...
