How far do you think Fundies
will go to create the "end times" and make it a self-fullfilling prophecy?

Not just the American whackos, but the fundies in general?

1. Most of them I know don't have any power to bring it about
But they're quite willing, almost eager, to throw three-quarters of humanity under the bus (as it were) in their haste to meet Jesus in the sky. Which is to say that while they can't do much of anything to help bring about their armageddon fantasy, they're unconcerned with all the human misery and suffering they attach to their blood-soaked gotterdammerung.

If you're on fire, and the end-timers think it's part of God's divine plan, they wouldn't cross the street to piss on you.

8. It's funny--
I said something similar about GWB in 2001. I said he was the type who if he saw a panhandler in the street would cross over to avoid him. I guess apathy and ignorance go hand in hand for these true hypocritical bastards.

2. Their backs are against the wall, and they will stop at nothing
Science has poked holes all in their beliefs; memberships in the church must be in the crapper -- they NEED the "end times" to set everyone straight and show the non-believers.

9. And they will use anyone or spend
almost any amount of money to make it happen. It's really sad, though; if it weren't for the RRR and the fundies, we would more than likely be better people, more likely to hold ourselves up as good people and less hypocrites, and we would less likely want continual war. But it's not going to happen until we can marginalize the assholes.

3. It's their number one cause.
DUer's have seen what outright *glee* these nutcases have for all war, death, destruction (both natural and otherwise), famines, plagues, etc. It's not a strain of logic to assume that these certifiable lunatics wouldn't deliberately exascerbate these tragedies so that their glee could increase.

Yes, no doubt that they are deliberately doing these things. This is the primary cause. All others are secondary.

4. They are willing to shoot doctors to prevent abortions...

I think that sums it up.

If they thought that dropping a nuke would bring jeebus into the sky... well, let's just say I wouldn't want to live near likely targets.

11. One fundie I know
her father was a doctor and regularly did the barrage at clinics. Her mother had passed away when she was 12 from breast cancer, and I often wonder what strides she would go to "save" an unborn child. She really was quite whacko.

6. every year in the new millennium that jesus doesn't return
makes them more desperate.

12. Yes--they are desperate
and getting worse every day.

What is sad, though, is that moderate or relatively "normal" Christians are harangued because of the extreme beliefs of the far right fundies. If more people would stand up and be counted, perhaps we could find a way to make them as unimportant as they really are.

16. there is a misperception among christians that
we are all brothers in christ.

well -- we have never been that.

and as long as there are people who want to make the christian faith an idol -- a thing locked in stone -- we never will be.

religion -- like so many other things -- must be living and breathing and changing all the time.

if it becomes an empire of traditionalism -- it becomes deadly.

by way of disclosure -- traditionalism in the point i'm making is not referring to ritual.

7. Every day is a new outrage for me...
seems the fundies -- ALL religious fundamentalists, regardless of the religion -- seem to be doing an amazing job of ending everything lately.

We're all left suffering in the end.

13. That's right
and it's up to those who can identify them to point them out and find a way to stop them dead in their tracks.

The only solution I see, in the USA, is to impeach GWB and Cheney when we get the majority in the House and Senate. Once "their" president is out of office, perhaps some reason will take hold.

14. They will go as far as they can without actually putting themselves
in any danger .....or suffering any major discomfort......

I normally don't fear armchair soldiers of the Lord....

15. This is a surprisingly simple question to answer, when you think about it.

They will go as far as they are told by their leadership.
