There are some problems with Dems demonizing Greens.

We need to find common ground to remove Repugs from power.

Solely blaming Greens for Bushco.2 ignores all the other factors.

The Dems need progressives and progressive issues to succeed.

(The Santorum specific case provided fuel for another round of serial DU attacks on ALL Greens)

It's just lazy to continuously blame Greens while we still don't have verifiable unstealable elections and the majority of Americans don't vote at all.

1. split the repugs and the neoCONS & make sure people realize
moderate Republicans of old are the new moderate Dems. The Repub and neocons have brought their party so far to the right that they're no longer considered true republicans. Go and create a 3rd party for them.

3. Lets not forget that Dems take money from GOP funders as well.
In fact, I'm quite sure they beat the Greens hands down in that department. The Dems are more than happy to take the sloppy seconds from corporate lobbyists who woo the Republicans first. Others give equally to both parties.

4. I love Greens
but I hate Ralph Nader.

If Greens try to do what Ralph did - tear down Democrats for their own gain, then I will hate them too, (and they are certainly responsible for empowering Ralph). That only empowers Republicans.

Greens need to be part of an anti-Republican coalition that works with Democrats. I also love the former Green who is running against Hillary in the Democratic primary. I am proud to be part of the Green wing of the Democratic party.

Sometimes I wonder about the non-voters, as another thread mentioned. If these people are so apathetic, and apparently ignorant (otherwise how could they be so apathetic) that they do not get out and vote on their own, then I am not sure that I trust their judgement. We need more voter education through alternate media - radio, TV, newsletters, internet, and people will go vote when they learn about the issues.

6. I think given the concentrated efforts to discourage voters for decades
"If these people are so apathetic, and apparently ignorant (otherwise how could they be so apathetic) that they do not get out and vote on their own, then I am not sure that I trust their judgement."

I don't worry about them not being "worthy" of voting.

7. I Can Do Both Ya Know. I Can Say Fuck The Greens And Work Towards
verifiable unstealable elections at the same time right?

There are definitely huge issues around our voting systems that need to be resolved asap. But that doesn't mean that until they're taken care of it is wrong to state how it makes me wanna puke when people come on DU and push Green candidates, or how the Greens are just simply narrow-minded and unelectable.

Gotta love DU: We're capable of multitasking.

9. I Would Think The Numbers Placing Sole Blame Are Miniscule & Insignificant
Many blame them, but don't by a long shot solely blame them. There is far more focus on the other factors involved with bushco2 than is on the greens, and it is practically non-existant of an issue where an individual would forsake all those other factors in order to solely blame the greens: So I'm not really sure why this is such a concern.

As far as finding common ground goes, that's always a good strategy. And of course we need progressives and I encourage progressive ideals: But I only care if the greens vote for a Democrat. Otherwise they can go fuck themselves for all I care. It is sickening how some bash the dems while supporting green candidates here, almost as if they're campaiging for the greens. Well that's why I'm glad this is Democratic Underground and the spot-on Administrators of this site were thoughtful enough to make it against the rules to openly push a friggin green candidate here. God bless them for that.

So in closing, yes there are a plethora of other issues far more important regarding the last election and future ones. Yes, we can work towards fixing them while still rhetorically telling greens to go fuck themselves if they don't vote for a democrat. Yes, we need common ground, but that only matters if they vote for a democrat.

14. While I am neither a registered Dem or Green
for the life of me, I do not understand why any Dem would demonize someone that is on their side of the political spectrum.

Cutting off one's nose to spit their face

and

Shoot one's self in the foot come to mind.

Btw, I am registered "OTH" on my Precinct Memorandum card and I call myself a Liberal Independent.

Yeah and if we were here to dialogue or do something, we wouldn't waste time in the GreenHater circular firing squad, we would come together on common issues and maybe even............. progress.

Maybe hating Greens and Nader is the way some folks process the fact that they let their government be hijacked (twice!) by a corporate cabal (the same forces Greens and Nader were warning against) without doing a damn thing about it :boring: It's easier to point the finger than look in the mirror and see "LIHOP" written across your forehead.
