Lebanon faces acute fuel crisis: UN (Lebanon Daily Star)
By Agence France Presse (AFP)

Wednesday, August 02, 2006

UNITED NATIONS, Aug 1, 2006 (AFP) - Lebanon has only two or three days of fuel left and the United Nations is working urgently to persuade Israel to give safe passage to supply ships, UN officials said Tuesday.

The lack of fuel and precarious security is preventing many UN organized convoys from reaching victims of the war in Lebanon which has left more than 820 dead in the past three weeks.

The United Nations estimates that at least 177 children have been killed in Lebanon while it also emphasized that children have also been killed in Hezbollah rocket attacks on Israel.

There is an "acute fuel crisis" in Lebanon with only two-three days of supplies left in the country. Three hospitals in southern Lebanon have closed because of the lack of fuel, he said.

1. There is no godly reason for all this infliction of suffering. Ceasefire
is the immediate need.

There can never be peace and a peaceful coexistence. If all this was done in the US could any of you forget about it and get on with your lives?

Question raised by what was reported on C-Span this morning:

Why does Israel have -

15 warships
3 submarines
470 planes

all paid for by American taxpayers?

4. I wonder the same thing.
The argument has always been that the more reasonable nations are allowed to own such weapons while the 3rd world nations aren't. The theory being, only those that show control should be entitled to have such firepower at their disposal.

Has Israel shown any such control? They are like the big bully and they not only use these weapons to threaten, but they respond to rocks and mortars with guided missiles.

It's just completely out of control.
