That "Daring Israeli Raid" on a Hospital in Baalbek Killed Many Civilians
some even opposed Hezbollah! Imagine that.....

<snip>

Its chief spokesman, Hussein Rahal, told the Associated Press that fierce fighting had raged at the hospital - which witnesses said was partly destroyed - for an hour.

"A group of Israeli commandos were brought to the hospital by a helicopter," Mr Rahal said. He added that Israeli jets were attacking the surrounding guerrilla force with missiles.

At least 12 people were killed in an air strike on the village of Jammaliyeh, near Baalbek. A missile hit the home of the village's mayor, Hussein Jamaleddin, killing his son Ali, brother Awad and five other relatives, witnesses said.

The witnesses said the mayor - who survived the raid - and his relatives were political opponents of Hizbullah, and had apparently been hit randomly.

A family of five were also killed in a strike on the village of Saath.

1. According to local LEBANESE residents in Baalbak ..NO PATIENTS WERE THERE.
They had been cleared out DAYS EARLIER.

Lebanese in Baalbek said the hospital building had been cleared of patients days earlier, but some guards and Hezbollah personnel remained inside.

14. How many will have to die before the IDF eradicates the hate?
When will the IDF find a lower "standard" for its behavior than Hizb'allah? When will anyone stop ceding control over their behavior to some caricature of an "enemy"?

Projection. Codependency. Wargasms!

24. they have a lot of bodies to bury
Interesting point you make. I can remember Israel and the US making huge PR stunts out of tragedies. I guess Arabs are exempt from showing the damage terrorists do according to you?

The body of Lebanese victim Awad Jamaleddin, 58, one of seven villagers killed in an attack by Israeli warplane missiles, is carried toward the cemetery by a bulldozer at the village of Al Jamaliyeh near the northeastern city of Baalbek, Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006. Israel launched its deepest ground strike into Lebanon on Wednesday, claiming it had killed 10 Hezbollah guerrillas and captured five in the northeastern city of Baalbek while nearby air strikes killed at least 15 civilians. 18. Yes, that WaPo source is iffy, how about the Lebanon Daily Star?
A Hezbollah spokesman had earlier said that Israeli troops were surrounded after attacking Dar Al-Hikmeh hospital, which is run by the Islamic militant group, about two kilometres southwest of Baalbek.

The spokesman said all patients had been evacuated from the hospital on July 12, when Hezbollah fighters captured two Israeli soldiers in a cross-border raid.

20. That proves it - Hezbollah must not be using civilian shields!
Because they took the patients out of that hospital and used it as a base of operations (so to speak).

21. Actually...
..the patients were removed because the Hezbollah folks obviously follow events in the West Bank and Gaza and are aware of the IDF's penchant for raiding hospitals to 'snag' wounded fighters.

Israel needs to update their playbook.

15. Heavy Equipment Used to Bury the Dead
<snip>

"People in a village outside this Hezbollah stronghold used a front-end loader's scoop to carry away some of the dead Wednesday after a night of Israeli airstrikes and a commando raid inside Baalbek that residents said killed at least 15 civilians.

It was the deepest thrust into Lebanon by Israeli troops since fighting broke out between Israel and Hezbollah on July 12. Israel said its soldiers killed at least 10 Hezbollah guerrillas and captured five.

A crowd of about 50 people from the village of Al Jamaliyeh carried pictures of Hezbollah's leader, Sheik Hassan Nasrallah, during a funeral procession through the hamlet, which was hit by bombs overnight as Israeli commandos stormed a Hezbollah hospital in Baalbek a half-mile away.

The village's dead were shrouded in white cloth and carried to the cemetery in the bucket of a yellow front-end loader. The mayor, Hussein Jamaleddin, lost his son, brother and five other relatives. He broke down crying and pulled at the limbs of the dead hanging out of the scoop.

"This is the leg of my son. He was a sportsman, he did tae kwan do," Jamaleddin wailed."

17. Israel has already lost this little war
I heard one of their apologists saying the people that hate Israel would hate us anyway. Implying that Israel has nothing to lose. As is obvious on this board, a lot of people who more or less supported Israel as a great ally, etc., have been repulsed. Support in Europe has plummeted, and if possible, the Arab street hates Israel more than ever.

Dumb, dumb, dumb. Just like continuing to build settlements on stolen land after admitting they're not legal.

29. Michael Ware Reporting from Lebanon says it was an Emergency Room
he was just on CNN and cleared up a few more of the Israeli LIES. The reason there were no "in-patients" was the fact it was an emergency room facility for care during the day, no in-patients. He also noted at least 16 civilians were killed while the IDF calls them Hezbollah terrorists.

A relative mourns as the body of Awad Jamaleddine is removed by a bulldozer, after he was killed with several members of his family, during an overnight Israeli raid on the eastern town of Baalbek, a Hezbollah bastion 10 kilometres from the Syrian border. Israeli commandos struck deep into Lebanon and snatched five suspected guerrillas in a helicopter raid that provoked the heaviest rain of Hezbollah rocket fire in the 22-day-old conflict.(AFP/Joseph Barrak)
