This has probably been posted already....

Aug. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Marine Corporal Phillip E. Baucus, a 28-year-old nephew of Montana Senator Max Baucus, was killed in action in Iraq, the Defense Department said today.

Phillip Baucus, of Wolf Creek, Montana, died July 29 in combat in al-Anbar province, the Defense Department said. He was assigned to the 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, California.

Max Baucus is the top Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee and has been involved in negotiating pension and tax legislation in Congress, including a measure that would combine a permanent reduction in the estate tax with the first increase in the minimum wage since 1997. Baucus voted to authorize military force in Iraq.

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid confirmed Phillip was the senator's nephew. Phillip ``is like a son to Senator Baucus,'' Reid said on the Senate floor, extending condolences.

2. I heard this last night but I thought it was his son
which surprised me because I didn't think their were any Congress critters with children at risk. Anyway wanted to take this opportunity to tell this story. Before the Senate voted on the Iraq War Resolution I made a vow to call everyone of the Dems to tell them to vote no. Baucus was one of the first calls - he was supportive of the resolution and I was told so by the young man who answered the phone. I told the young man that the blood of all the dead would be on Senator Baucus' hands for voting this way - his reply was well that is pretty morbid - and then I went off on him and said what do you think war is - PEOPLE are going to DIE - the call was actually stunning that this person answering the phone had no CLUE what the ramification of this vote would be - so I am sorry Mr. Baucus that your nephew was killed - but his blood is on your hands.

5. Was this senator in F9/11?
I recall someone being asked by Mr. Moore if his kid would sign up in the Armed Forces and then NBC did a story showing someone in Congress saying he had a family member over there but claimed Mr. Moore edited that part out.
