WASHINGTON - U.S. Senate candidate Katherine Harris received a grand jury subpoena from federal investigators and concealed the fact from top campaign advisers hired to help her deflect negative publicity, her former campaign manager has disclosed.

"Yes, there was a subpoena. She didn't tell us," said Glenn Hodas, Harris' third and most recent campaign manager. He said he learned of it in June while reviewing invoices from powerhouse Washington lawyer Benjamin J. Ginsberg and confronted his boss.

The invoices, Hodas said, were for work relating to a "DOJ subpoena," referring to the U.S. Department of Justice.

The discovery culminated in the latest round of staff departures, in mid-July, Hodas said. Those resignations included Hodas and a campaign spokesman.

The subpoena apparently was issued for campaign records as part of a Justice Department investigation of Harris' dealings with defense contractor Mitchell J. Wade.

The escalating inquiry by the Justice Department's Public Integrity Section already has involved interviews with Rollins, who conducted an internal inquiry for the campaign and said he spent two hours talking to investigators here, and Fred Asbell, who quit in June as Harris' chief of staff in Congress, Harris' fourth.

Existence of a grand jury subpoena doesn't imply wrongdoing; it could be part of a broader investigation focusing on other targets.

Harris has said she is cooperating with authorities and has been informed she is "not a target."

Ms. Harris was administered a Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (2d. Ed.; MMPI-2) and a Rohrschach projective test. She declined to participate in an evaluation interview, so the following report is based solely on test tesults and on information provided by third parties.

Test Results

Validity scales on the MMPI-2 indicate that the subject sought to portray herself in unrealistically virtuous terms and made a naive attempt to deny any form of psychological distress or turmoil. These response biases were sufficiently severe to technically invalidate the test results.

Results of the Rorschach indicate that the client has a general pattern of denying, minimizing and repressing any ego-threatening material. She is likely to seek to cover deep-seated feelings of personal inadequacy by putting up a "false front" (or perhaps a "falsie front") of hyper-competence and toughness. Ms. Harris appears to be intensely self-centered and narcissistic in her approach to life, with a tendency to see herself in unrealistically grandiose terms. She is likely to be utterly lacking in empathy and compassion, and to act in ways that display a total disregard for the needs and interests of others. She is likely to have a strong fear of abandonment, and her relationships with significant others are likely to follow a cyclic pattern of swings from extremes heights of idealization to profound depths of devaluation. She is likely to be subject to marked mood swings, ranging from giddy euphoria to profound depression in a matter of minutes.

Most likely diagnosis:

Narcissistic Personality Disorder with Borderline and Antisocial features.

Face it, if the party felt Harris was that valuable, Mehlmann and his goon would have gone to great measures to makes sure the subpoena wouldn't become public.

For those here who are impatient about all the investigations going on...I sense a perfect storm coming up here. Imagine 4 or 5 or more indictments coming down in September and October...and no GOOP Lobby reform for those lying bastards to try to tap dance around. Their hubris has been simply astounding.
