TEL AVIV, Israel, Aug 1, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- British rockers Depeche Mode have canceled their Thursday concert in Tel Aviv because their technicians refused to travel to Israel.

And despite Depeche Mode's earlier promises to play in Israel no matter what, the band said it could not control its technical team, which refused to board planes bound for Israel due to "recent developments," Ynet said. No further explanation was given.

"We made great efforts, but as of yesterday a problem came up with the technical team which developed into the refusal of the entire team to get on a plane and come to Israel," he said.
"Our image in the world hasn't contributed much to the situation," he added. "It's difficult for me to digest what we are going through at the moment, and I can't predict how this move is going to affect other artists who have planned to appear in Israel, but it obviously won't do much good."
