19. How am I dying?

Slowly a little piece at a time gnawed away just as my Constitution, country, animals, pure water, clean air, tall trees, beautiful world is gnawed away by an insidious and creeping thing, a cancer, a weevil, a worm, a malignant rot.

I made my choice long ago and stand by it I could not choose differently today as my choice has made me who I am, who I have become, I could not choose differently anymore than I could transform myself into a palm tree.

I try to make a difference every day no matter how small, ever since I organized my first peace rally when I was ten years old and though that was a different war it was the same men that drummed for it, deceived for it, profited by it, and the same young people that fought it and the same innocents and youth that died in it.

They will say I was a rebel, sweet to many but terrible to a few. I fear I have not made any difference but I cannot change into a palm tree and sit idly by and watch as my country is gnawed to pieces by a creeping cancerous weevil worm of rot. I am not dead yet and I am not done yet and I will continue to try to make a difference because I still have hope.
