why no quotes from the extreme right to support anti Israel sentiment?...
And I don't mean Pat Buchanan or Chuck Hagel. Lets go all the way.

"It saddens my heart to tell you that part of my country is occupied by Zionists, just as part of your country, the Golan Heights, is occupied by Zionists. occupy most of the American media and now control much of the American government ... It is not just the West Bank of Palestine, it is not just the Golan Heights that are occupied by the Zionists, but Washington D.C. and New York and London and many other capitals of the world. Your fight for freedom is the same as our fight for freedom." David Duke.

Man, coulda been lifted from the "evil Israel" vitriol seen here lately. After all, he didn't say Jews. And heaven only knows, its not the discriminated that should define what is offensive, it is the discriminators. Who are the jews to say what is anti-semitic. It is for WASPS on broadband to do that.

1. why do you want quotes from the extreme right?
I have absolutely nothing in common with David Duke. What's your relationship with him? What is it you want? Are you here to cause trouble? Do you really think this is an intelligent line of reasoning, because I see it as the troublemaking words of a warmonger. Take your death and killing fantasies elsewhere.

27. Yes cause trouble, disrupt and be a source of friction
Not because his view point is different. It is the nature of his non-sequitur statements that are disruptive.

I oppose bush*s administration & policies. Am I anti-American? Do I hate America? Far from it.

In the name of all that is good, please stop this maddness.

5. That really is low
To suggest that anybody that criticizes Israeli poicy is somehow a David Duke supporter is both illogical and inflamatory.
I am an American Jew. I do not support Israel in it's collective punishment of the Lebanese people. Does that make me a David Duke supporter? Obviously not. This kind of hyperbole does not help your argument.
Apologists for these atrocities are increasingly relying on these kind of disingenuous arguments to make their dubious case.

15. It's a waste of time amigo...
The line of thinking is this:

01 Bush = Evil *
02 Bush supports Israel **
03 If Bush supports Israel, then Israel = Evil
04 If You support Israel, then You support Bush
05 If You support Bush, the You = Evil

It's just stupid reactionary crap. Unfortunately reactionary insanity is the new fashion right now.

* I agree with this
** Every other president, including Clinton, supported Israel as well for a very long time now. I have to wonder how much hate and vitriol certain DUers would spew at Clinton.....

47. Not really
Boneheads, white supremacists and neo-nazis hate Israel just because they are Jewish. That's it.

The left's problem with Israel has nothing to do with religion or identity or ethnicity or otherwise, it has everything to do with Israel's atrocities, ethnic cleansing, disgusting policies, land theft, murder and more.

To compare or try to connect the two is dishonest, petty, insipid, ignorant, myopic, stupid and worse.

You really are without a clue, aren't you? Get a grip, and quick.

The "far right" that raises money for Israel is not that extreme edge of the right-wing. The David Duke types are also against this war (and incidentally also against the Iraq war, which they believe is "for Israel").

25. I'm not a fan of Hagel
but in all honesty, his statement was pretty balanced. He even made it clear that the "US relationship with Israel was special". He just stated support for a cease-fire. I don't think that's enough to call one an anti-Semite.

I judge people ultimately by a collection of comments over time as well as personality traits. Pat Buchanan is very likely an anti-Semite. He has a history of making such insensitive statements (often thinly veiled though). David Duke is OBVIOUSLY an anti-Semite and blatantly and outright blames Jews for all the problems of the world. Of course, I believe Duke has endorsed Buchanan in the past, so ideaologically they are not all that far apart.

The ONLY reason the RW wacko nut jobs say they support Israel is because they NEED Israel to get their Rapture ON. That is the ONLY reason. They HATE Jews. According to them, all Jews must convert and if they don't they MUST DIE. They don't support Israel. They just SAY they do, but you BUY THAT SHIT? Become a Part of Biblical Prophecy

For I will take you out of the nations: I will gather you from all the countries and bring you back into your own land. Ezekiel 36:24 (NIV)

Through John Hagee Ministries, Christians are joining forces with the Jewish people to rescue Jews from all around the world who wish to relocate to Israel. To date, John Hagee Ministries has donated in excess of $8.5 million to bring Jews from around the world to Israel. We have done this with the generous help of our partners throughout the Western Hemisphere.

As Christians, we must recognize the critical importance of the Jewish people in God’s plan for us all. We must, in direct fulfillment of Jeremiah's prophecy, help bring God’s people home to Israel. Click to Download Exodus/Migdal Brochure

Christian group lines up behind Israel
By Alison Hoover
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
July 20, 2006

Leaders of the five-month-old movement Christians United For Israel and evangelicals expressed support for Israel yesterday at a press conference in the Capitol, urging Congress to follow suit.
They explained their stance to a standing-room-only crowd of about 75 people.
"It is not a popular position for the international media, for most of Europe, or for the world," said the Rev. Jerry Falwell. "But it's the right thing to do."

How about this guy?

Christian Zionists Heralded in Israel

By Craig Nelson
Cox News Service

Israel's leaders react enthusiastically to Pat Robertson's Christian Zionism.

HERZLIYA, Israel -- As they say in the preaching business, Pat Robertson had them in the palm of his hand.

No matter that his audience wasn't predominantly Christian, let alone American. They drank up every word. And when the founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network culminated his give-no-ground speech to the elite of Israel's political and military establishment with the ringing declaration, "Be strong! Be strong!" many of his listeners jumped to their feet to give him a boisterous round of applause.

The rapturous response to Robertson here last week is just one example of how a large and growing group of conservative American Christians has entered Israel's political scene with startling vigor, even as the Holy Land's indigenous Christian communities wither due to war and a dying economy.

Calling themselves Christian Zionists, they are increasingly viewed as a political lifeline by influential Israelis who are eager for allies to fight what they see as a rising global tide of hate aimed at Jews and Israel and to blunt suggestions that Israel is the main culprit in the Israeli-Palestinian morass.

When are you going to admit that you are in bed with the Christian Right?

The facts are clear to all but you.

The tip of the evidence iceberg is above. Are you so in denial that I'll have to bring you even more quotes and facts? Or are facts irrelevant to you?

59. Only David Duke says "Zionists control the US government"
Thankfully, neither Human Rights Watch nor anyone on DU would make a claim as obviously anti-semitic as that.

Anyone who thinks that the response is heavy handed should be aligned with the extreme right? Or are you uncomfortable that the extreme right is also in the war corner?

70. Because the extreme right is currently PRO-Israel, maybe?
Edited on Tue Aug-01-06 11:48 PM by regnaD kciN

Also, because those critical of current Israeli policies can get all the quotes we would ever need from respected, moderate sources, thank you. (And, while we're at it, isn't your "question" basically the same as wondering why those of us opposed to Bush aren't quoting Osama?)

83. No..
at least if you mean the the extreme right-wing as in neo-nazis and white supremacists. They are actually anti-Israel *gasp* and they are also strongly opposed to the Iraq war. Most of their talking points would no doubt be agreed with by people here on DU, which is of course how it always starts...
