did Jon Stewart just solve the ME crisis?
Sounded relatively reasonable to me.

4. well, it's kind of difficult to remember word for word, but the gist....
was that he suggested a territory split that seemed equitable for all parties.....and a better use of military resources in the region was advocated.

This was in speaking with his guest who had written a book about the rise if Islam on the international stage.

12. He didn't have time to delve into specifics
He called for a two state solution with Jerusalem becoming an international city so we can assume Stewart favors the creation of a viable Palestinian state.

17. I agree with that, I just feel that Israel will never leave the West Bank.
Unless maybe the water runs out.

2. Actually the internationalization of Jerusalem is called for
in the UN resolution that gave Israel its much vaunted right-to-exist.
There from the beginning and of course completely ignored.

14. That wouldn't be the resolution every Arab country in the UN voted against
would it?

The one the Arab League declared a breach of the UN Charter?

The one that precipiated their invasion?

That resolution?

15. I've loved Stewart since his Mtv days and he has always been a hero
of mine.

I was a big fan of his Gaza Strip International Plan, the strip is the property of all nations and they have interdominational temples in all Holy Places. It's a quick, easy non-favoritive solution to the ME holy land problems. "Everyone is welcome" seems the best way to go.

18. In the 1990s I worked with a guy whose last name
was Schwartz (a very common Jewish last name). Well this guy wasn't Jewish, he was Catholic born and baptized that way. He was being sent by the company to Saudi Arabia. Before the Saudis would allow him to enter the country he had to prove he was not Jewish, so he had to find his baptismal records and have a letter from a priest attesting to the fact that he was indeed a practicing Catholic.
