Jackson, MS Mayor Threatens ACLU With Special Attention
Edited on Tue Aug-01-06 07:04 PM by Keseys Ghost
...“What we need to do is establish a ground-level rule of accountability that goes across the board,” he said. “I don’t care if you have a gang rag and gun or a badge and a gun, when you come into our communities around our kids and families, you should respect the dignity of the people in our community, value the life of the people in our community, or you should expect to be held accountable.”

Hudson, a former St. Louis police officer, is in town to speak at a “Know Your Rights” public meeting, co-sponsored by the Mississippi ACLU and the Jackson Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and other organizations. The meeting will be at the Jasper and Associates Complex at 3365 Medgar Evers Blvd. at 6 p.m. today.

When told of the meeting, Melton sent a warning.

“I hope they don’t obstruct justice and give people false information, because if they do then we will be focusing on them and we’ll come after them,” he said.

1. ACLU claims it supports civil rights so why does it oppose RKBA for self
defense?

RKBA (Right to Keep and Bear Arms)

At least give the 26 dead victims a fighting chance since government is not obligated to protect an individual unless they are in custody.

5. Why do you say that?
I know the ACLU has supported some gun control laws. Last time I looked, supporting some laws isn't the same thing as opposing the second amendment.

Can you give a citation from a reliable source for your claim?

8. The ACLU stays out of that fight. It's neutral.

There are organizations flush with money supporting only the 2nd amendment and the ACLU is the only major organization supporting the rest of the amendments.

Imho, folks who criticize the ACLU for not spending much needed resources on the gun fight are trying to weaken the other areas of the Bill of Rights.

10. I've been a member of ACLU for decades. ACLU is not neutral when it says,
"We believe that the constitutional right to bear arms is primarily a collective one, intended mainly to protect the right of the states to maintain militias to assure their own freedom and security against the central government.”

IMO, those who deny ACLU's failure to support a most basic civil right, RKBA, also deny that RKBA is the way a law abiding citizen exercises her/his unalienable Rights of Life and Liberty, i.e. self-defense.

SCOTUS has said governments are not obligated to protect a person unless she/he is in custody.

Self-defense is a personal problem.

3. Respect Their Dignity?
Like waving giant pictures of aborted feti in the direction of children is considered to be respect?
