i read something the other day that fidel invited bush to cuba to see what a good health plan looks like. if i were georgie i would go. he might learn something that could help this country.

12. They have one of the best in the world actually.
Their doctors always go to third world countries where they are needed.

Despite the illegal embargo, at least their people are taken care of healthwise.

it's sad. why can't we have it? why do we have to pay these
ridiculous premiums, and co-pays and deductibles and if your condition is pre-existing they won't cover you.

30. How much did the Frist's make when they sold HCA?
snip>
Nashville-based HCA Inc., the nation's largest for-profit hospital operator, accepted a bid to be purchased by a group of private investors for about $21.3 billion and the assumption of $11.7 billion in debt.

I know this wouldn't have anything at all to do with why we don't have health care in this Country. People like Frist, Gingrey, all these rich MDs, the 50% administrative costs involved with health care in this Country-it should be criminal-well it probably is!

5. Everyone in power
everywhere in the world, including the corporations, want to bring democracy (and capitalism) to Cuba. This is something you can't just blame him for. And, no need for bombs. The crazy exiles in Miami have private citizen groups ready to go and fight there.

15. I'll give you my opinion
Edited on Tue Aug-01-06 07:38 PM by Patsy Stone
But someone will come along with a different one. You're confused because it's confusing.

The exiles are happy because for one minute Fidel is not in power. His brother is not really that much better, but he's not Castro, and that's something different. They were out in the streets last night because of the glimmer of a hope of change. Until Raul is gone, however, there can be no real change. So, how long would this guy last if he were to remain in power? Unknown. Rumors of alcoholism and a lack of charisma may lead to death (plus he's 75!) or being overthrown by the government forces or the people (with help from the Miami exiles).

The Miami exiles want a free Cuba. They want a sovereign country with a Starbucks on every corner and all of their family land restored to them. Think: if Puerto Rico wasn't a territory.

What the people in Cuba want, however, is unclear except to those who have been there, and all of the opinions of the situation there are colored by each one's pre-conceived view of the whole situation.

My .02

13. When you consider how important this issue will be in Florida, and
how important Florida has been in recent elections, it seems like the right-wing may *have* to take some overt action in Cuba if they want to maintain the support of Florida's Cubans.

23. Yes. They just recently discovered that Cuba has oil.
Lots of it.

Now you know what has perked junior's interest.

I always said there are a lot of bad guys as bad as Saddam running countries. Why don't we go after them? The answer was always, NO OIL. I remember thinking, Old Castro will be toast if they discover oil in Cuba. And now they have. Should get very very interesting very very soon. Of course now Castro may not live to see the BFEE come swooping into Havana with the Mission Accomplished banner flying.

The bodies of the 'fallen' also known as dead, will not have to be flown from as far away. And many of our soldiers already speak Spanish. Maybe they can defect and get some good health care.

if he really wanted democracy, Bush would have stepped down on election day in 2000, allowing the winner of the popular vote be President! But winning the Electoral College counts more to him than our votes do :puke:
