But someone will come along with a different one. You're confused because it's confusing.

The exiles are happy because for one minute Fidel is not in power. His brother is not really that much better, but he's not Castro, and that's something different. They were out in the streets last night because of the glimmer of a hope of change. Until Raul is gone, however, there can be no real change. So, how long would this guy last if he were to remain in power? Unknown. Rumors of alcoholism and a lack of charisma may lead to death (plus he's 75!) or being overthrown by the government forces or the people (with help from the Miami exiles).

The Miami exiles want a free Cuba. They want a sovereign country with a Starbucks on every corner and all of their family land restored to them. Think: if Puerto Rico wasn't a territory.

What the people in Cuba want, however, is unclear except to those who have been there, and all of the opinions of the situation there are colored by each one's pre-conceived view of the whole situation.
