"HAVAMI", (formerly Cuba) to become the 51st State?
Saw some Cuban Americans celebrating Castro's sickness and govt. handover to his lil' bro. One guy suggested we conquer the nation of Cuba and rename it Havami, and make it the 51st state.

Is this plan in the works, or just a dream?

1. So "one guy" suggests something and you ask
if the plan is in the works? No, the answer is no. Although I'm sure Morales, Castro and Chavez would want their citizens to believe that.

6. Don't think for a moment Rove hasn't thought it over.

They might see more advantage in making it a "protectorate" than a state however. Less responsibility to them while they can still plunder it all they want to.

9. My dad has believed this for years.
And he was stationed at Git-mo during his Navy days in the 50s. He has only the highest regard for the Cuban people. So he'd be thrilled. Really wants it to happen.

10. Again?
The US has been talking about annexing Cuba on and off since the 1850s (it's discussed in MacPherson's "Battle Cry of Freedom", sorry, can't find an on-line reference.) Once you get away from Southern Florida I don't you'll find many people interested.

Historical trivia: the last successful US invasion of Cuba resulted in the introduction of the Daiquiri and the Cuba Libre, discovered by reporters sitting around Havana in 1898 waiting for something to report.

12. Cuba was a short lived colony of the US...
Then a Puppet Dictatorship was installed, then a Democracy, then a Puppet Dictatorship again(under the same guy), then finally, the Cuban people rose up, overthrew the US backed regime, and that's how Cuba came to be a modern nation. It wouldn't be far fetched to think the US wouldn't try it again.
