Poll question: When Israel bombs Syria they will call it:
the choices seem pretty clear, given past behavior.

So, if a Syrian military unit, hospital, refuge center, road, government building, power station, water pumping station or government building are bombed, what will Israel say?

(Insert: What will the US say? - it will be identical anyway)

11. Everyone knows Syria and Iran supply Hezzbolah
They both deserved to be bombed. And yes, it's Israel defending itself.

Who should they attack - countries NOT supplying weapons and money to Hezbollah and Hamas?

12. & everyone knows US supplies Israel with death making instruments.
which is worse?
Allowing the death of people wholesale by proxy, as the american taxpayer is doing?
or supporting a political, religious, educational, social services group that also has a militia based on the idea of self-defense?

27. Iran and Syria are worse. Here's why
Israel doesn't go into their countries and routinely blow people up. Hezbollah and Hamas both do it routinely.

Israel doesn't routinely go and kidnap soldiers from other counries. Hez and Hamas do it routinley.

Who would you trust to have weapons? Not Hamas and Hezbollah.

30. Of course, Israel does. ROUTINELY
It repeatedly goes and assassinates politicians in Gaza and the West bank. Sometimes, 12 yr old school girls get in the way.
It repeatedly shells farmers trying to pick their olives, from surviving trees that Israel did not have time to destroy.
They are the biggest terror group in the region, except, they are our proxies, not arab proxies, therefore, they can do no wrong.

15. Gossip from the Washington Post:
'Iran's role differs in each crisis, as do the issues.

'The most pressing is the new violence along Israel's borders. Overnight, the confrontation with Hamas mushroomed dramatically into a confrontation that includes Hezbollah, Lebanon, Syria and Iran. Iran is using Hezbollah to improve its own leverage, analysts say.

'"The Iranians think they have a regional role," Bakhash said. "If the Israelis are beating up the Palestinians in Gaza, they may feel compelled as supporters of the Palestinian cause to have Hezbollah take a stand at this difficult moment." Hezbollah was founded in 1982 with the funding, arms and training by Iranian Revolutionary Guards dispatched to Lebanon after Israel's invasion.'

29. Another Wapo piece:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/07/14/AR2006071401401_pf.html

It quotes the state department as saying Hezb gets c. $100m a year from Iran, including 13,000 rockets. That's if you believe the state department, but Hezb is getting all those Katyushas from somewhere, and they're not getting into Lebanon through Israel, Turkey or Iraq. Where else? Not eBay, for sure.

18. scuse me, but when "Prada" Rice announces that
the resupply of F-16 capable bunker buster bombs are being delivered on a RUSH BASIS to Israel, I think that qualifies as "everyone knows"
Hell, every single paper is discussing our military aid to them. Every Democrat in the House is bending over backwards to prove his/her love of AIPAC.
Many senators are actively supporting INCREASING military aid to Israel. And you question "everybody knows"

Excuse me, but that is the comment of a troll, not someone wishing to converse.

22. "Israel wants peace"
at the same time as they take a brick to the head of innocent women and children. Repeatedly, with each stroke, "WE WANT PEACE"

yeah, right.

If you have proof of just HOW Israel wants to achieve this peace through invasions, bombings, assassinations, repeated, deliberate and deadly attacks on ambulances (in lebanon AND Gaza, AND the West Bank), I would be the first in line to want to learn about it.

Ok. I'm waiting.

33. You may not agree with Israel's tactics...but peace is their goal.
Edited on Tue Aug-01-06 06:21 PM by Clarkie1
They are fighting in the hope of stopping terrorist attacks into their country. They do not want war. Why do you think Israel would want war? They are trying to prevent themselves from being attacked.

Hezbollah does want war...they love death. Their leader has sad so. The struggle will go on until Israel is driven into the sea. For Hezbollah, Hamas, and other terrorist anti-semetic organizations, any "negotiated cease fire" is simply a strategic move...a temporary pause in an ongoing war, part of the "long view" of the historic struggle for the destruction of the Jewish state. They believe they will win because, in thier own words, "the Jews love life and we love death."

You can argue that what Israel is doing presently is not the best way to achieve their goal of peaceful co-existence in the long run (and others may legitimately disagree...there are good arguments on both sides), but anyone who argues that peace is not Israel's ultimate goal is either a fool or a liar.
