This story was surprisingly hard to get access to, and as usual, I couldn't find any US press that covered this. I hope this is one of many inquiries that proceed.

Joy as war inquiry bid can go ahead

The mother of a Bradford soldier killed in Iraq has backed a ruling by three of the country's top judges that could pave the way for an inquiry into the legality of why Britain went to war.

Pauline Hickey, whose son Christian was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq last October, said she was delighted with the breakthrough but she stressed that a lot more still had to be done.

Mrs Hickey said: "It is obviously good news that a public inquiry is a step closer because it gives us the opportunity to uncover the truth.

"But the victory will not be won until we, the families of the servicemen and women who lost their lives in the conflict, are told the real reasons about why we went to war in the first place."

At the Court of Appeal in London yesterday a panel of top judges Master of the Rolls Sir Anthony Clarke, President of the Queen's Bench Division of the High Court Lord Justice Judge and Lord Justice Dyson ruled that the families were entitled to apply for a judicial review of the Government's refusal to hold an independent inquiry into the conflict.
