Those Democrats who want to drill for more oil, even if it solves NO
problems and is bad for the environment.

Today, there was a cloture vote on the bill that would allow drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. 14 Democratic senators voted for it, even if it helps nobody when it comes to lowering gas prices (it will take many years to produce oil there), and if the bill does not do anything for the environment (oil being after coal the worst pollutor when it comes to greenhouse gases). In addition, this bill was opposed by basically all environmental organizations (LCV, Sierra Club, ...).

I guess there is still a great way before people will understand what the issues are. Not too surprisingly, most of those who voted for cloture are from states producting oil or coal, so I guess the special interest of their states was stronger. But is there oil in NY State or Delaware?

At least, my senior senator (Kennedy) voted against clotur (Kerry was not there, so I guess we will have to wait until tomorrow to know where he stands on that).
