What's with the Medicare "Donut hole"?
A. Where the Republicans so stupid they didn't realize the gap was timed to enrage senior citizens and their families just 10 weeks before the elections?

or

B. The Republicans figured that all those old folks would be too sick from not getting their medicines that they wouldn't be able to vote?

5. They wanted the good press in the beginning
At the start Big InsuranceCo picked up the entire tab and Seniors were happy telling the media how great it is. But Big InsuranceCo didn't want to keep picking up the tab all year long so felt a donut hold would be the answer. The seniors would pick up the tab in the middle. Nearing the end of the year before it is time for Seniors to reenroll in the program, Big InsuranceCo would take over paying the bills again.

6. And it does not take long to reach
the hole. After 2500.00 seniors are pretty much on their own. They base the 2500. on RETAIL prices, not what you actually pay. I may have my numbers wrong but I think until you reach 5000.00 you still have to pay the monthly premium. Yep, Republicans really are the "screw you" party.

9. What makes me irate is
Edited on Mon Jul-31-06 11:50 AM by RoBear
that the 2500 is based on the TOTAL paid by both the drug company and the client, but the 5000 (?) is the total PAID BY THE CLIENT!!! (or out-of-pocket costs).

Whoever in hell thought this was a good plan???? Except for pharma, of course.

This is my primary reason for throwing all the bastards out. That includes senators, congressmen, and LOBBYISTS who distort the law to line their greedy pockets.

How about outlawing lobbyists???

10. They can blame "big government" and use this to show
why privitizing everything is better.

Then they will say that the failures in medicare are the fault of Dems and liberals.

Republicans make sure to impliment government programs so they can make sure they fail, thus "proving" what they have been saying all along: That privitization is better.

That's why they sabatoge public schools, for example.
