How about a Gore/Edwards ticket in 2008?
Probably would never happen but I'm curious what my co-DUers would think of that.

27. Compare him with Bush as a speaker.
It's just a damn shame when we have to produce a Demo candidate that's an outstanding speaker, when the Chimp is arguably one of the **WORST** speakers ever to hold that office.

Anyway, I've seen Gore speak eloquently for over an hour on environmental issues, citing fact after fact and never referring to notes. He's not a bad speaker, he's just not full of Hollywood excitement.

3. It would be fine, but
Edited on Wed Jan-18-06 04:28 PM by WI_DEM
Warner might be a better choice for VP becuz he might actually bring with him Virginia where I'm not sure about Edwards pull in NC. A poll shows that Warner would beat Allen in VA by double digits:

4. Edwards was on Gore's short list for VP in 2000
I sure wish he would have picked him that time. I would support this ticket.

be a ticket I'd wholeheartedly vote for! I think there was a poll the other day with this combo and it was the one I chose.

I know, I know... let's get through 2006 first....

the ticket wouldn't be bold or exciting. same old, same old. two white men from the south. we need a ticket which will energize and excite the electorate. clark? obama? boxer?

44. Edwards would not help the ticket
He is a 1 term Senator that didn't finish his 1 term without spending over a year of it campaigning for the WH. At this point, if Gore were to run (hope against hope), I would pray that his running mate would be Boxer, Clark or perhaps someone else - just not Edwards or Kerry.

19. Got my vote, as long as Gore is first.
I think we need Clark as sec of defense -RIGHT NOW!

I always had some reservations about Edwards - not anymore. Gore is a leader, people will follow him. Edwards just might be too, given latest statements from him.

One thing for sure, we dems seem to be short of leaders.

Yeah, Edwards is ok with me (at least he is now).

28. I was never comfortable with either Kerry or Edwards
(don't hit me!) and it didn't have much to do with the men, themselves. I just felt they were unelectable.

Just a gut reaction.

Although I have to admit personal injury lawyers aren't high on my list of favorite folks.

31. TalGran, have you read "Four Trials" by JRE? Please do. You will change
your mind but quick. Edwards fought for regular people who had been harmed (disfigured, disabled, killed) by negligent corporations. The book is in your library. Great stories also of meeting Elizabeth in law school, and the death of his oldest son, and the center they established in his honor.

To know this man is to love - at least respect - him.

34. That was my first choice... I think it's a winner!
And I'm hoping people have given up on the tired idea that we have to have a northerner and southerner on the ticket. Two southerners, or maybe a southerner and a west coast candidate? I think the time is not right for a northeasterner.. only because the country's trending toward the down home thing... which allows buffoons like Bush and reagan to be elected.. you know the faux cowboy thing.

39. All this wishful "what if" thinking
depresses the crap out of me. I'm supporting whoever can beat the GOP. Right now, Gore/Edwards sounds like sweet sweet music to my ears, as does Gore/Clark, Gore/Feingold, Gore/Granholm, Gore and ALMOST any Dem, or any permutation there of. Right now, I think we should devote all of our energies toward defeating the GOP in 2006.

40. Gore/Kucinich
Ohio deserves to be the centerpiece of the campaign. The country needs to accept that Ohio's electoral votes were stolen from its people and handed to the current pResident. Plus, I want to see a VP to the left of Gore (just in case they bump him).

But ... we need to focus on 2006 at the moment.

41. I was just thinking the same thing this evening.
Gore has the experience to be a great prez and Edwards as his second will let Edwards gain more experience.

I think their compassion and speaking abilities could deliver a one-two punch to anyone the pugs put up against them.

Also both have been screwed by the last 2 elections. I don't think either one will lay down and not fight for every vote.

45. I could go for a Gore/Edwards ticket.
It seems that Gore becomes a better candidate with each speech he has given since the election was stolen from him. Edwards isn't quite ready for prime time, but could gain valuable experience as VP preparing him for that role in the future.

Gore/Clark would work as well.

I sure don't, but I'm not sure if Edwards would want to be a VP candidate again. Either way if Gore does run and get the nomination, I think it'd be better if he picks someone else - maybe Clark or Feingold. Warner might help also.
