Edited on Wed Jan-18-06 05:08 PM by SoCalDem
They are kept corraled at the neighboring farmette with the bales of hay and the rusted farm stuff..

The real "players" are choppered in and out of the pig-farm while the snewsies interview each other about the virtues of straw vs hay.

48. Another reason reporters aren't officially allowed on
the property is that the modest farm dwelling most Americans think the chimp holes up in there is, in reality, a 10,000 sq. foot modern mansion. The only photo of it I've found on the internet is an aerial view someone posted here on DU from a mapping site. Can't have the moron freeper types seeing that their cowboy hero lives in a style befitting a movie star.

By BOB PORT

http://www.mostnewyork.com/2002-02-03/News_and_Views/Beyond_the_City/a-140188.asp

In January 2001, it was an Enron corporate jet that carried former President George Bush to his son's inauguration — and to a huge party financed in part by the single biggest gift on record given by the Lays to Bush: $100,000.

And, this?

Records: Bush Campaign Used Enron, Halliburton Jets

Friday, August 02, 2002 5:55 p.m. EDT
http://news.lycos.com/ot_click.asp?loc=searchresult-lycos-pg1&id=2&url=http%3A%2F%2Fnews%2Elycos%2Ecom%2Fnews%2Fforms%2FcatalogSearch%2Easp%3FstoryId%3D481325%26topic%3Denron

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - During the 2000 presidential election recount battle, George W. Bush's campaign used jets owned by several large corporations, including Enron Corp . and Halliburton Co., that are now under federal investigation, according to Internal Revenue Service records and officials.

Republicans said on Friday there was nothing improper about the use of the corporate planes, for which the Bush-Cheney Recount Fund paid more than $13,000 to Enron and $2,400 to Halliburton Co., the company Dick Cheney ran before becoming vice president.

"Our use of planes was in full compliance with federal election law," said Benjamin Ginsberg, a lawyer for the Bush-Cheney recount fund. Republicans said the amount the Bush campaign spent on corporate planes was a tiny fraction of the $13.8 million it paid out during the five-week recount battle. Bush, a Republican, won the White House after the Supreme Court blocked the recount of thousands of disputed Florida ballots.

Democrats said the payments were proof that President Bush and Vice President Cheney were compromised by their close business ties. "The Bush administration literally flew into power on Enron's and Halliburton's private jets," said Bill Buck, a spokesman for the Democratic National Committee.

I know he claims to do work on his ranchette but recently saw a clip of him at a hospsital where he claimed to have "injured myself" on a uh a uh uh uh "cedar" ... quite a little gash on the forehead. What the heck was that? Usually if I bump into a tree, I don't think about the TYPE of tree it is. The clip for this was posted on a political webcam site and also was shown (though not that part of it) on K.O. recently.

All it says is Abramoff had a picture of himself and the IDIOT that was taken at the ranch and autographed by the idiot to Abramoff. Randi must be getting her info elsewhere. I'll check her site later tonight and see if she posts her source for her info.

38. It does. From the article:
Edited on Wed Jan-18-06 04:41 PM by troubleinwinter
A former DeLay staffer who is cooperating with the investigation into both Abramoff and the disgraced GOP leader’s activities, has told investigators that Abramoff and DeLay visited Bush at his ranch on at least four occasions in 2003 and 2004.

I HATE quoting CHB and giving them hits, because I personally do not regard it as reliable. But that's my opinion. Just trying to determine what source Randi is using, and it certainly hasn't been stated anywhere other than CHBullshit.

In yesterday's press conference Snotty said there were a few staff-level conferences that J-*off attended.

54. Abramoff at a "funders' thank-you" at a ranch near Crawford
http://www.texasobserver.org/showArticle.asp?ArticleID=2016

excerpt:

The White House couldn’t ignore the broadening scope of McCain’s investigation. Abramoff had raised $300,000 for Bush, been invited to a funders’ thank-you at a ranch near the President’s Crawford ranch (declined because he doesn’t travel on the Jewish Sabbath), served on Bush’s transition team in 2000, and had been to the White House on numerous occasions after Bush was elected. According to a source who has been interviewed by the FBI, Abramoff told tribal clients that he met regularly with Karl Rove, who insisted on meeting outside the White House so Abramoff’s name wouldn’t appear in public records. Norquist was selling casino Indians face time with President Bush for $25,000 a head. Bush’s Secretary of the Interior was changing Indian policy to accommodate Abramoff, at the request of DeLay and Speaker Denny Hastert. The scandal that started on K Street reached south toward Pennsylvania Avenue.

61. Oh brother!
What? Did they have a special little shack built out in the back? Good god.

Hey, at least he observes Jewish Sabbath. As though it's going to help. I think god is a wee bit smarter than that.

And I thought today would be a total loss. Nice ending at least...

65. This article needs it's own thread. His term life insurance scam is nasty.
Scary and nasty.

".........As previously reported in the Observer, Abramoff planned to purchase term life insurance on Tigua elders and collect the death benefits as they died. It was an imaginative idea by which the deaths of tribal elders would pay for lobbying services for those left behind. It was also more than the Tigua Tribal Council could stomach.

In the summer before his Indian lobbying enterprise collapsed, Abramoff found another niche market to which the evangelical Reed could connect him: dying African-American Christians. If Reed could, as he promised Abramoff in an e-mail, deliver 85,000 Christian voters,” Abramoff must have assumed he could deliver enough dying black Christians to create a new revenue stream. In July 2003, Abramoff e-mailed Reed regarding “Black Churches Insurance program.”

“Per our previous discussion. Let me know how we can move forward to chat with folks who can set this up with African American elders. It can be huge.” Reed replied that it looked interesting and urged that they meet in D.C. as a next step.

A futures market that commodifies the waning lives of elder Black Christians. Who says this isn’t a great country?"

The article also says Abromoff contributed $300,000 to his great friend George.

68. Don't these holy rollers take the cake.

Abramoff says he can't travel on the Sabbath, presumably because its against the teachings of his religion. By golly his religious convictions sure didn't get in the way on the other 6 days of the week when he swindled, stole, embezzled, bribed and corrupted along with the best of them, but it seems he figures he's home free in God's books as long as he doesn't travel on the Sabbath. Of course the pretend piety was all for show in the first place. What a hypocritical, corrupt, sorry sack of shit this guy is, in other words, a typical neo-con, wingnutter Republican.

58. I'd love to see this picture ....
According to the DeLay insider that CHB quotes: "Abramoff kept a photo of he and Bush, shot at the Crawford ranch, in his office in Washington. The autograph from Bush said 'Tto my great friend Jack.'"

Also CHB says: "Dale Knally, a campaign worker in the 2004 Bush-Cheney re-election campaign, recalls a meeting between Bush and Abramoff during a campaign stop in Florida. He put his arm around Abramoff and told us that ‘this man is one of this administration’s greatest friends,’Knally recalls. Knally declined a job in the Bush administration and returned to school after the election and remembers some in the campaign privately calling Abramoff a sleazeball."

94. Bush + Puffy McMoonface = "I did not have relations with that lobbyist"
Q But have you been able to more clearly determine whether the President ever met Abramoff at any of these White House --

MR. McCLELLAN: Actually, I talked about this earlier today, maybe you weren't here earlier this morning, but -- when I talked to some of your colleagues.

Q I thought you said he might have been, but I'm just wondering --

MR. McCLELLAN: Yes, I said it's possible that they would have met at a holiday reception or some other widely attended gathering. The President does not know him, nor does the President recall ever meeting him.

Their records are not off limits, we found that out with Clinton, surely the ss is not just letting people in to see the pres and not making note of who and when.
