Attacks kill four Marines in Iraq
http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/07/29/iraq.main/index.html
BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Four U.S. Marines were killed in combat Thursday in Iraq's Anbar province, west of Baghdad, the U.S. military said.

Three Marines -- assigned to 1st Brigade, 1st Armored Division -- died "due to enemy action" on Thursday, according to a U.S. military statement issued early Saturday.

The military had announced on Friday morning that another U.S. Marine -- assigned to Regimental Combat Team 5 -- died "due to enemy action" in Anbar province on Thursday.

Thirty-eight U.S. troops have died in Iraq during July.

Since the start of the war, 2,565 U.S. troops have died in Iraq. Seven Department of Defense civilian employees have also died in Iraq.

2. It has to stop.
I keep thinking of the testimony that a young Navy Lieutenant delivered to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on 22 April 1971:

"Every day .... someone has to give up his life so that the United States doesn't have to admit something that the entire world already knows, so that we can't say that we have made a mistake. ...We are asking Americans to think about that because how do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?" -- John Kerry

soldiers are dying so this admin, specifically Il Dunce, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, doesn't have to admit how wrongheaded they've been, from start to finish. Apparently they don't care about the blood that's being spilled as long as they think they can salvage their reputations.

5. Good Cop/ Bad Cop
I notice that the necroconservatives are attempting to fool the American public with a sad "good cop/bad cop" routine involving Condi Rice. A number of them are recommending that she be "fired" for taking "too weak" of a stance. The public is supposed to react by embracing her as a voice of reason. I could vomit.

9. I was watching something yesterday (Hardball?); someone said
there are countries who refuse to deal with her any longer. So much for her diplomatic role; I think their ruse is wearing really thin. Voice of reason? Ha! The bunch of them are embarrassments, dangerously so. I'm with you on the vomiting...

6. RIP

Grass Bush

Pile the bodies high in Austerlitz and Waterloo Iraq
Shovel them under and let me work--
I am the grass; bush; I cover all.

And pile them high in Gettyburg Baghdad
And pile them high in Ypres and Vedum Mossoul and Al Fallaujah

Two years, ten years, and passengers ask the conductor:
What place is this?

I am the grass bush.
Let me work.

8. I am just so sick of this shit!! And still our admin. supports more and
more war, bloodshed and carnage. It is literally doing nothing to help the Lebanon situation. They can't even get Israel to call a 72-hour cease fire. Israel is not and was not the ONLY democracy in the ME. Lebanon WAS one too. Turkey is one and it won't belong before inattention to the Kurdish situation (that Saddam knew so well) will break out in yet another bloody conflict with the US on the wrong side again.

10. "Mission Accomplished" and the declaration that major combat has
ended was the message from pResident dimwit on May 1, 2003.

The war is over. We are now in the occupation phase of this mess. According to ICCC, 139 soldiers were killed during March and April 2003.

2,435 have been killed during the occupation, for a grand total of 2,574..
