Don't Forget This Stuff Scares Our Kids. Reassure Them Of Their Safety.
Edited on Wed Jul-26-06 02:31 PM by DistressedAmerican
The other day I was having a conversation with my sister while watching some news coverage about the Lebannon situation and her daughter was listening.

She chimed in, "Is that a real war or a pretend war?" pointing to the television.

My sister responded that it was a real war.

You could see right away that she got all of the sudden that it was not just a movie and she got scared fast.

My sister assured he that it was happening far away and that she was safe.

Even still her daughter asked, "Will it come here?"

We assured her it would not. That seemed to relax her considerably.

But, in reality it got here a long time ago and I am amazed everyday we do not see it here again. The whole exchange just made me more tense.

Remember to reassure your kids of their safety and keep them media limited during all of this shit. The may be picking up more than we realize.

Just a friendly reminder.

p.s. It also hot out there. Fill those pet water bowls.

End of public service post. :hi:

2. My children are young adults now.......
but I have tried to explain to them the concept of propaganda.

But they just can't seem to wrap their brains around the idea of "news" being used to push a slanted, conservative point-of-view.

But, I'll keep tryng to explain it to them! :hi:

3. Every Person on this Planet is in Danger
because of our government's insane actions. WWIII in the age of WMD could wipe us all out. These sicko neo-cons are crazy enough to start such a thing, and even boast about it, while calling pacifists terrorists.

7. That's an Excuse for Endangering Every Person on the Planet
Since when was a caveman such a threat? What is he gonna jump out of the tv screen airing the latest B movie, and choke me to death?

11. DistressedAmerican I want to
thank you for bringing this issue to the table. I watched the same thing happen the other day with my 7 year old Grandson. I was literally dumbfounded when I realized I was watching bombs drop in front of him. He asked why I was watching it and was it going to happen here. I was floored. Our children are seeing our disgust and tension over these issues and it scares them. I have never been around children much so I tend to go on about my business when he is around, but I realize know I have to be diligent in keeping his presence in mind. :wow:

Great Post.
