General Vines Leaves Iraq With "A Silver Palm Tree" Gift.
Any guesses who paid for it?

Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim Jaafari (L) presents a gift of a silver palm tree to Lieutenant-General John Vines (R), chief of the Multi-National Corps Iraq, at Jaafari's office in the secure 'green zone' area of Baghdad January 18, 2005. Vines, the number-two general in the U.S. command, will be transferring command to Army Lieutenant-General Peter Chiarellias as he ends a year-long stint as the U.S. operational commander this week, as part of the normal rotation of senior U.S. commanders. 2. Wonder if they found a way to smuggle gold out of the country?
Remember that truck load of gold bullion that we were told...oops not really gold, just painted to 'look' like gold? Where is it???? One article on the finding of the gold another that oops not gold and the whole thing goes down the memory hole...Wonder if it is pure gold coated in silver as a way to smuggle some gold out of Iraq? Just wondering????

3. Dress uniform seems to be totally out of fashion.
Every picture of US military I've seen in the last few years showed them in battle dress. Evidently they are supposed to be looking as dangerous as possible.
