True friends of Israel cannot let the Dems take power (by Dick Morris)
http://thehill.com/thehill/export/TheHill/Comment/DickMorris/072606.html

Ten years ago, on April 18, 1996, Israel attacked Hezbollah in Lebanon for 16 days in an operation called Grapes of Wrath. The global condemnation of Israel was fierce, especially when it bombed a U.N. refugee camp, killing 107 people, an attack that Tel Aviv said was a mistake.

At the time, the United States did nothing to stop the tide from turning against Israel and President Clinton said, “I think it is important that we do everything we can to bring an end to the violence.”

In private, Clinton seethed at the Israeli attack, saying he had discussed with Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres the possibility of concluding a military defense treaty with his nation, pledging U.S. aid in the event of an attack.

“They really want this guarantee from us,” Clinton told me. “I would have given them the commitment, too, but now I can’t because of the uproar over the refugee camp bombing.”

No such treaty was ever signed.

Clinton’s willingness to use American power to force a cease-fire on Israel before it had fully eradicated Hezbollah stands in stark and sharp contrast to George Bush’s insistence on letting Israel proceed with its attacks until the terrorist group is neutralized.

1. True friends of Israel want to restrain them.
Morris, the pro-Iraq invasion idiot, is now giving advice for Israel. He's just as wrong on this. Israel will never "eradicate" Hezbollah. In fact, this latest nonsense will make Hezbollah even stronger in the near future.

10. You Took The Words Right Out of My Mouth
However, as with everything else the Repukes say, the Dems are going to need a response.

4. From the depths of my American-Jewish heart, I say...
...fuck you, Mr. Morris.

"Fuck you" for trying to bind my love of Israel to a political party I find truly repugnant.

"Fuck you" for attempting to exploit my love of Israel as a wedge to divide me from my progressive beliefs.

"Fuck you" for implying that America's traditional role as honest broker in the Middle East is a sign of weakness or a lack of support for Israel, when in fact, a stable, peaceful Middle East is in everyone's best interests, including Israel's.

Fuck, fuck, fuck you. Go suck a toe.

-MR

that there is no such thing as 'neutralizing' terror.

It is a bogus argument based on a flawed premise: you cannot rid the world of an abstraction, the very concept is just plain ludicrous.

6. I guess the question is, how many "true friends" does Israel have?
I get really tired of this "mighty Israel" stuff. It is my impression from talking to people down here in Georgia that most couldn't give a rats A** about Israel. They basically just want this S**t to go away so that gas prices will go down. And they certainly ain't gonna vote for a specific candidate just because they support or oppose the current action. Seems like there is a big disconnect betwen what most Americans feel and the actions of our politicians, and when this happens it is always about the money.

7. So basically this latest war is a rove wedge issue
concocted to pry Israel Can Do No Wrong voters away from the Democratic Party in time for rescuing the 06 midterm elections. This is all part of the salvage effort, along with mexican bashing, gay marriage, flag burning, Iranian nuclear nonsense, and snowflake babies.

Sounds like a drunk complaining that someone won't enable them, those who will are 'true friends', those who won't arent.

11. Morris proves, once again
That no Republican need ever worry about where his next honorarium is coming from no matter what he does. Hell, he could even display a penchant for sucking toes and let hookers listen in to his White House calls, and someone somewhere will still pay him for spouting the most noxious drivel.

12. Dick, go choke on a toe! Or a mouthful of toes!
True friends of Israel do not let friends vote Republican. Stick that in your leather codpiece.

YUM! YUM! says Dick.
