Important!!! Please help here.
The MI-07 district needs your help. (Even if you're outside the district please call!)

Along the I94 corridor heading east between Chelsea and Dexter at mile marker 165, there is a billboard sponsored by "Episcopalians for Peace" and adjacent to it, pro-war Republican Bush-lite Joe Schwartz has placed his own billboard.

So the action alert is to call or email Episcopalians
for Peace and ask that they remove their sign immediately and ask that it be moved to a new location, since the placement of it makes it look like a endorsement for Joe Schwartz.

The Diocese is a part of The Episcopal Church, USA as well as the
worldwide Anglican Communion - a Christian community using the practices and traditions of the Church of England.

Call to Action: Please send us an email message at info@edomi.org or call the Bishop's Office at 313/833-4435 for more information.

3. I don't know what judges are on the ballot.
I think for the first time in my life, I'm just going to vote straight "D" right down the line. I'll see if my neighbor knows the judges.

In the meantime, here is this link about our candidates.

Are you working with a Democrat yet?

4. No. But I would like to. Who are you working wiht?
I have been busy moving my college age and older kids out of MI, unfortunately for MI.

I have been seeing signs everywhere for judges but they aren't listed as dems or repugs on the ballots. I feel as if this is so important and yet I can't find any info on any of them so I can see where they stand on abortion and other important issues. I grew up in CT and am not used to the whole non partisan thing here in MI.

Are you already registered to vote here in Michigan? If not, you'll want to do it right away. (I'm not sure if you can vote in the primary at this point. Call the secretary of state's office to get registered if you're not)

Four Democrats on the primary:

Strack--Ugly website, doesn't include every single position but may be viable
Ream--Very Progressive...I like him but he seems to be very wordy on his website but may be viable
Reiner--Ran in 04 against Schwartz...not an effective candidate
Campbell--Won't end war soon

I'm going to volunteer with the Democrat who wins after the primary.

Edited to add:

Republican:

Schwartz--not the moderate he claimed to be in 04.
Walberg--very neocon!

Read the kos diary for great background.

6. I am registered and have been here 7 years.
I will work for whoever wins the primary as well. I need to mix more with dems because since the election I can't even talk to many people in chelsea. I can't take the whole crazy christian thing and I feel as if I am always being judged. It gets to you after a while. I didn't realize that Jackson was as blue as it is. That makes me feel better but I still see way too many confederate flags! WTF!! I didn't move south!

I went to the outlets in Howell three times in the last month and I think it pushed me over the edge. Of course I kind of hang out at the edge, so it doesn't take much!

Thanks for the dailykos link. I will email it out to my friends.

7. Are you part of the local peace group? or the WPA?
I can help you get settled with both!

Also, the local dems need help too. I think Chelsea is sort of Purplely. Same with where I live! But Howell, is very red. If memory serves me correctly, Howell/Brighton was the home of the KKK.

8. Yes, kkk was in howell
I get the peace group emails through a friend but I am not a part of it. I know I should be more involved becasue I don't even know what the WPA is! I read as much as I can and share info with friends but I haven't made the effort to get involved. Now is definitely the time so any info you have would be appreciated.

Chelsea may be purple but I am afraid that the liberals are afraid to admit it. I scream it and it never goes over very well, but too bad.

9. Hey, it worked!
Good news!

I just heard back from the Episcopalian Diocese and the sign will be removed asap (by the end of the week) AND she's writing a letter to the newspapers and explaining that it was not an endorsement of Joe Schwartz.
