A Cold Glass of Nicotine
Nic Lite, a lemon-flavoured, water-based nicotine drink that contains four milligrams of organic nicotine -- equivalent to the amount of the drug found in two cigarettes -- may soon be landing a spot on store shelves on this side of the border.

In a statement released in June, the makers of Nic Lite said they plan to roll out the product in more than 50 U.S. airports, targeting nicotine-addicted airline passengers facing the agony of smoke-free flights.

"We attempted to find other products that might have the same biological effect on people to help them when they can't smoke, or in our case, when they can't smoke and shouldn't smoke," said Joseph Knight, CEO of the California-based Nico Worldwide Inc., the makers of Nic Lite.

. . .

Nicotine gum and the patch are supposed to help people quit smoking, but Nic Lite is marketed as a way to get you through until you can smoke some more.

While the FDA regulates the gum and patch as drugs, Nic Lite is classified as a dietary supplement. That means it was able to get to market without any oversight. The FDA can only take action if it's found to be dangerous.

So an addictive drug can be sold freely as a food product if the sellers market it as a food product not as a health product. Goes to show, the corporate takeover of the FDA is officially complete.

2. Wait until they figure out how to use it in a mixed drink
and they will, since more bars are going smoke free.

I'm for anything that will allow smokers to tolerate smoke free indoor environments.

3. So, when they are able to deliver it via a "ritual" way
that would be great.

For many of us, it is the ritual that is the hardest...than hand to mouth, the set your clock by your 10:00 am cig....I am speaking only of light smokers.

If I could get an inhaler, that left me with the impression of smoking without the smoke, I would do it in a minute...the ones on the market now are not so hot.

A cut straw is not the same either.

Sigh.

7. Some compounding pharmacies make nicotine lollipops
by prescription. Finding a doctor that has heard of them and will prescribe them might pose a challenge as well. But I tried those and they were the best replacement among everything else I've tried in the past.

I agree, it's the ritual that's the hardest, and why I ended up failing. But the lollipops got me a hell of a lot closer to quitting for good than I ever had before.

4. Cold? What Plebes. Everybody knows the proper way to serve
nicotine as at room tempature. Also it is good with Fish and Chicken, but not Beef or Shellfish.

5. yes it can... see: DSHEA
the piece of legislation that applies is DSHEA

signed by clinton

DSHEA is actually a law that HELPS companies that are NOT part of big pharma

i have commented extensively on this in the past.

in general, big pharma does NOT like DSHEA since it allows small supplement companies to sell alternatives to expensive prescription meds

ephedra alkaloids are an excellent example

6. Perhaps Original Recipe Coca Cola will follow.
The same amount of nicotine as in TWO cigarettes? A person can drink 12 ounces of soda in less than a minute. I think this stuff is gonna fuel addiction, not just maintain it.
