Would DU be better with or without mods?

IT would descend into freeper hell. This is a great board as it is. Mods have human error as does everyone, but for the most part, everything runs well. Keep it the same.

I'm just saying...with all that's going on right now, I find this question over the top on the trivia scale. i have seen some weird shit from mods...and I've seen MORE weird shit from some of the regulars here, but this is a much better world than the one being carved out by the fascists in charge of our country..or probably anyone else who pretended to know how to order the chaos that is America.

Whether one welcomes change is another question though.

I've posted on forums with lax regulations or even no regulations at all. You can get some wonderful threads from viewpoints all across the spectrum. For instance, I have seen discussions between Marxists and anarcho-socialists and moderates over what society would be created if started from scratch knowing what we know now.

On the other hand, if the forum is declared a free speech zone, then it would necessarily empower those who have no ability to post here including ultra-rightwing elements from proto-fascists, neo-nazis, fundamentalist christians, ultra-rightwing Likudniks, etc. Freedom of speech protects speech that may not want to be heard by many people.

Almost always, the mods do a good job. The trolls MUST be controlled otherwise the forum would descind into choas

However, there's been a couple threads deleted and the poster banned that quite frankly shocked me I thought amounted to a case of head in the sand. I won't/can't bring those examples up for obvious reasons.

I suppose anytime you have human beings involved in censorship theres going to be mistakes and differences in judgement. (And I mean censorship in the positive sense, not in a negative sense)

The only change that I would welcome would be for the mods to error on the side of assuming good faith instead of automatically assuming bad faith (ala Wikipedia)

I think a forum dedicated to asking the mods questions/suggestions would be nice as well. As it is, its impossible to question things in a positive light that might bother you as in the threads I suggested above.
