F__king UnBelievable!!!

50 percent of U.S. says Iraq had WMDs
By Jennifer Harper
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
Published July 25, 2006

Half of Americans now say Iraq had weapons of mass destruction when the United States invaded the country in 2003 -- up from 36 percent last year, a Harris poll finds. Pollsters deemed the increase both "substantial" and "surprising" in light of persistent press reports to the contrary in recent years.

The survey did not speculate on what caused the shift in opinion, which supports President Bush's original rationale for going to war. Respondents were questioned in early July after the release of a Defense Department intelligence report that revealed coalition forces recovered 500 aging chemical weapons containing mustard or sarin gas nerve agents in Iraq.

"Filled and unfilled pre-Gulf War chemical munitions are assessed to still exist," said Sen. Rick Santorum, Pennsylvania Republican, during a June 21 press conference detailing the newly declassified information.

Rep. Peter Hoekstra, chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, who shared the podium, said, "Iraq was not a WMD-free zone."

5. Well if Bill and Sean say it once...ever...
then it neatly justifies all the death and distruction we've caused. Digging deeper, or watching anything opposing would just be upsetting. So as long as Santorum or some other flea spouts what they want to hear once then they can accept it and question no further...

thought just makes you unhappy afterall.

Consume and sleep.

8. Catapulting the propaganda works.
Plain and simple, if you tell a lie enough times it becomes perceived as a fact.
Only history will be able to straighten this lie out

10. My parents are among them. They say some old mustard gas shells on
Fox and called me to let me know the WMDs had been found (sometime way back). Sigh.

11. holy crap
I guess FAUX News somehow forgot to mention that Santorum was full of crap.

I believe this though - a lot of people have stated the WMD claim on the radio, in person, and online, and Ijust assumed they were the marginal 20-30% morans.

13. Flash: Half of Americans Still Stupid
Edited on Tue Jul-25-06 10:06 AM by smoogatz
Why should this surprise us? Too bad the Harris pollsters didn't ask whether it was worth going to war over 500 degraded or unfilled mustard gas rounds left over from the 80s war with Iran. Somebody should ask Santorum and Weldon whether they would have voted to go to war if Bush and Cheney had told the congress that Iraq was in posession of 500 degraded or unfilled mustard gas rounds, but no other WMD. If they say "yes," they sound like the wingnut whackos they are. If they say "no," they're admitting that their support of the invasion was a mistake.

14. This is what happens when "debate" shows give lies the same weight
as facts.

A (moderate at best) Dem comes on, says their piece, and even if its all true they get challenged and harassed by the "impartial" moderator. All while being interrupted and shouted down by the Republican.

Then its the conservative freak's turn to speak. They spew lies and rhetoric and talking point BS, and they never get even so much as challenged by the moderator. In fact, the moderator even goes as far as to attack the Dem for refuting the Republican BS.

Lies are given more weight and credit than truth.

17. Clever psy-ops poll
is all this is. Make the public believe that people actually think Iraq had WMDs, then it becomes, "Well everyone else thinks so, so what's wrong with you?"

All the experts including David Kay said NO WMDs. Saddam was contained, and had disposed of them.

Oh, and by the way. WE GAVE SADDAM THE WMDS!!!!! To fight against Iran. An oft-forgotten fact.
