Really not trying to be an ass here, but who really runs DU?
I mentioned earlier an ADMIN with 20 posts. I seen Skinners name on here before. I've seen the advent of advertising that sometimes features Repub stuff. Where's the money go? Is this non profit? I love the forum, and the opinions of my DU brothers and sisters, but what's at the top? What does it take to get in on this?

10. Read the about page and the rules.
A little bit of actually trying to find the answers to your questions is generally considered to be good etiquette.

18. nonprofits and the law
Edited on Mon Jul-24-06 10:18 PM by lwfern
Can nonprofits engage in political activities?

All nonprofits can engage in lobbying to a varying degree, but political activity is totally out of bounds for public charities. (This is why DU isn't a nonprofit.) “Political activity” refers to any partisan campaigning for or against a candidate. However, there are nonprofits that can fully focus on political activity: Section 527 organizations or Political Action Committees. These are independent groups whose mission is to support and influence the election of a political candidate. They accept contributions for candidates that are not tax-deductible but are exempt from federal gift tax.

And it isn't organized as a 527 political lobbying organization, either. It's an LLC - limited liability corporation.

23. I Fail To See Your Point Or Motivation.
If it was to simply try and cause trouble, I'd understand it. But I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt that wasn't your intention. So if that's out, then I have no idea how on earth this is any of your business or why it carries any relevance to you to post a thread on publicly, as opposed to a private message to the admins that run this site. You want to know? Ask them.
