Water - what do you pay for your local/municipal monthly supply?
I most recently paid just under $40 for a months worth of water, and admit, I use almost none. I don't water the yard, I don't have any backyard fountains.

I expect to pay a lot more in the near future, but was wondering what others pay for their water supply.

Thanks for answering.

16. No electric pump? No mineral treatment?
My well water is free, but getting it out the ground to use isn't.

34. There are costs, obviously
But per gallon they are minimal. Our filter system was just checked this week after five years. $172/60= $2.86 per month. I don't think our pump uses that much electricity.

But it's not so great when we lose power!

rule. :)

Cool that you get free water.

37. About the same here.
Excluding the cost of electricity, and pipes, it's free here. Two wells, eight springs, and a creek.

6. more like $50
i don't have fountains (who has fountains?) nor do i water the lawn, that would only encourage it

however there are other services bundled in, such as trash hauling and sewer, we're even billed for recycling altho the recycling truck hasn't picked up in years so that part of the bill is a scam

i wouldn't expect to pay much more for WATER in future, as our aquifier is predicted to last long after the rest of the usa has been converted into the sahara, we have one of the few well supplied aquifers remaining apparently

so ask me again why do "those people" live in louisiana, at least we got water! i expect to have the last laugh on all of the hateful midwesterners who printed accusations all over the internet abt not wanting to help us after katrina -- their oglala aquifer is apparently only a matter of time

9. In Milwaukee suburb it's not the water that is expensive, its the fees
for treatment and special levy for the "deep tunnels" for dealing with rain/melt events. For just 2 adults our bill is often near $50 a month.

15. bundled in to council tax
water is paid for by the local council, and an annual tax on each household based on number
of humans living there. In that sense, it is presumed a 'human' takes x amount of water,
and the payment is by number of humans.

21. About $72 a month now
and that's not metered; it's a flat rate. If we went to a meter, which we might be forced to do, a larger family like ours will likely pay a bit more -- We have five people total. We conserve water, living in NV, and we only water twice a week. I never use water to wash off sidewalks, etc. unless it really needs a spraying due to a spill or something. I can't stand it when I see people regularly watering their sidewalks here!

28. I have a well, it pumps up to a 5000 gal water tank then into a water
softener, a booster pump and then a reverse osmosis filter. I pay for the electricity to run the well about half a day a month and to run the other equipment daily. Not too much in cost. The well cost $12,000 to put in and is part of the land payment so it is all relative.

29. going up to $50
And like you, we don't water our grass or anything. What's weird is that it doesn't matter how many people are in my house, or even the size of the house. My daughter paid the same amount in her apartment as I do with 4 people living in a 4 br house. It's supposed to be metered, we can't figure it out. Sure is damned expensive though.

31. about 35 a mo.
when I'm here alone. A week-long houseguest runs it up to 50ish -includes sewer.

I use bottled water for coffee, etc. and have no lawn...garbage service is separate. The rate will double when they get the treatment plant upgrades in place. We have a history of water shortages and for years there was a moratorium on building unless you could 'buy' someone's old water permit.

41. Varies from 33 to 46 monthly.
We have a good sized house, yards that are watered (properly) and are quite judicious with our water, electricity, etc.

An auto parts store in town drives me crazy.. whenever it's over 77 degrees, they put a lawn sprinkler on their roof and run it all day.. rather than get some freakin' a/c in there. They've done this for the three years I've been here, and no doubt years and years before that. Can you imagine that no one has mentioned to them that they're wasting water?
