Tweety To "Investigate" The Swiftboating Of Murtha
I just saw the promo hinting as if Tweety is going to "blow the lid" of this sucka.

My bets...he has a panel with Ben Ginsburg, Victoria Toensing and Mrs. Alan Greenspan to really get to the heart of this matter.

7. I think that
Matthews will do a fair job. I'm curious if he will tie it to people in the White House, or allow it to look like an independent effort.

8. It'll Be Fair If Murtha Is On
Yes, if it's not tied to Rove/Bozell/Norquist/Blackwell and their propaganda contacts then this story will be another corporate whitewash.

I have little faith in how Tweety will cover this as he's shown how he can only go so far off the reservation without being reined in. He's conflicted and still hasn't explained some of his involvement in both the Plame matter and now with Abramoff.

He's become one of the best enablers of this regime...he'll do an "objective or fair" show and then follow it up with a whitewash or a complete GOOP hatchet job (like what he did to Hillary last night).

I see he's coming up on Anus...let's see what spin he spittles. It's a shame...at one time Chris Matthews had the promise of being a decent journalist.

9. While I like Matthews,
I realize that he has earned 75% of the harsh things said about his on DU. He has been, in large part, reined in. More, some of what he believes in is simply a result of his living a sheltered, very comfortable life.

He should speak about his role in the Plame scandal. I think that the concerns about him and Abramoff are a stretch. But, of course, I could be wrong.

I do know that he is disturbed by the efforts to "swift boat" Murtha. And I expect that, perhaps not unlike last night with Al Sharpton, he will have a guest who says the things that his job will not always (or often) allow him to say.

10. He's One Of Jack Welch's Boys
I used to think of Tweety like you did...until I read into some of his meetings with GE President Welch; a staunch Repugnican...who pushed Matthews, Russert, Mitchell, Williams and others forward to view the world from "his vantage point". I heard Welch brag about this, and how he set up CNBC to manipulate the markets. This has been a deliberate and subtle misinformation campaign that serves a personal and corporate agenda.

We now know that Russert, Matthews and Mitchell were all talking to Rove and Libby and getting who knows what misinformation that was put out as "news". The fact these people still report on cases they're involved destroys their credibility with me, but they still get thousands of eyes and ears listening in...and their misinformation and games go on.

Tweety may be pissed about the Swiftboating...but you know he won't give this story the real treatment...go into the real tentacles of the Repugnican money/PR machine, since he's bitting the hand that feeds him and keeps him on the tube. He can feign indignation while he has goons like Ben Ginsburg who will go on, unchallenged, with lies and then follow it up with Norah O'Donnell who will ask anyone who she doesn't like "are you a Democrat"?

I watch, but I watch with contempt and distrust.

Cheers...

11. It's worth remembering
that Libby's infamous call to Russert was to complain about Matthews' reporting on Plame. While it is disturbing that Libby felt he was in a safe place making that call (not to mention lying about it afterwards), and it indicates how things really run when Rove calls Chris to attempt to poison his opinion of Wilson and Plame, it is important to note Matthews has still done the single best job in the corporate media in reporting on the Plame scandal.

I share your general opinion of the corporate media. I am convinced that progressive people must become active participants in reducing the power of the corporate media, and I think that tv is the single most offensive source of misinformation today.
