Is American Politics in Danger of Demise because we Dems are on Comedy
Edited on Fri Jul-21-06 07:47 PM by KoKo01
Channels? Or, is this a GOOD THING...like when ABC belonged to us in the 70's as the New Upstart and "Saturday Night Live" (in it's first years) was the ONLY PLACE for us to laugh at our POLITICIANS?

Is it the Cynicism of the YOUNG as opposed to those of us who FEAR FOR OUR DEMOCRACY...or just the CNICISM of US ALL?

Wouldn't it be better if we had REAL NEWS...at LEAST one lonely radio station that wasn't "Air America?" At least two lonely channels that carried on hour of "KO" and a few hours of "Comedy Central? Where's the NEWS for us Upstarts who aren't ready to curl up with MSNBC/CNN/FAUX PROPAGANDA...but Comedy Central is a little too "cutting edge outta the mainstream for us oldies serious sensibilities???????" And we have to "wait to long for Keith?"

1.  Laugh-In Brought Down Nixon As Much As Anything Else
Ridicule is a powerful public weapon against the stupidly venal.

4. I like Jim Lehrer's the News Hour on PBS
tonight I heard that the Gallup poll on the Middle East shows Bush with a 10 point drop over
Lebanon. I hear news there that I do not hear anywhere else.

Gallup is showing almost a 10 percentage-point difference, in favor of disapproval, in terms of how he's handling this. Lebanon makes Americans unusually worried because of its history, which is not favorable.

7. Yes, me too, but maybe they could link to the website
and send them a few pennies, they are one of the few sources for real news that's on Tv right
now and I like the Frontline documentaries too.

8. Comedy is always important. Even more so in times of turmoil.
Wits weapons do more for diplomacy than any bomb or bullet.
